Since 1982 for me when we won the West but lost to eventual champ Cardinals.
I remember listening to those games in the 7th grade in the school library between the stacks on a transistor radio I brought to school.

this is what made the 90s Braves so fun to watch. Great pitching.
Which is why it was so incredibly frustrating as a kid to see the Braves fail to win the World Series more often than not. That world championship in 1995 was very satisfying but they had a good enough team to win it all just about every time they made the Series in the 90s (with the possible exception of 1999).

Lifelong fan, born in Atlanta.
Been here thru the ups and downs and I have never given up on this team!
This years team is something special! Who would have thought that our starting pitching would have given us what they did in the first 5 games??!!
And what a pick up D'Arnaud was and with have him for another year!!
Thank goodness Felix opted out or they would have never brought Ian up. Things just worked out so well for us!
LET'S GO BRAVES!!

My dad was the bigger Braves fan. But he took my to see the Braves for the first time in person versus the Padres in 1989. I was 6. I was hooked. We always made it to at least a series a year until the late 90s. But as the 90s core roster broke up, I lost some interest. But have definitely gotten back into them the last 4 years.

my dad has been a fan since 66 since they moved to Atlanta. he would listen to the games on the radio.

Very seriously considering gauging the market on one of the 12-15,000 NLCS tickets in Arlington and using Southwest miles to fly out there for one of those games.
That thought never crossed my mind... but now it is..
Damn you George!

I just went and checked ticket prices and they are not so bad, especially if you go on Monday!
The only problem is you can't buy 2 tickets for any of the games, has to be 3 or more.

Yeah looks like 4 mostly... no chance my wife goes... Anyone looking for 1?
Posted on 10/9/20 at 9:20 am to BamaMamaof2
Yea the biggest issue is the "4 ticket pod" thing.
Prices are definitely reasonable.

We moved to Georgia in ‘65 and the Braves followed us a year later. My Dad became a huge fan and likewise me and my brothers. He took us to many games over the years...and then when we got older, we took him to many...
Lots of good memories, plenty of heartbreaks:
Winning the first ever NL West Division title, but losing the NLCS to the Miracle Mets in ‘69...
Lots of dry years afterwards but there were moments: Aaron breaking Ruth’s record, Gene Garber striking out Pete Rose to end his 44 game hitting streak in Fulton County Stadium.
Starting the ‘82 season 13-0 (we went to a game during that streak), winining the West but getting swept by the Cardinals. How many of you recall the first game 1 in that series? Niekro and the Braves were up 1-0 and were 2 outs away from it being an official game. It was raining and the umpires called the game so it didn’t count. The Braves never recovered...
The worst to first season in ‘91. Great season but heartbreak at blowing the World Series; if only Lonnie Smith would’ve keep running on Pendleton’s double, we win the Workd Series. I had nightmares for days after, waking up, yelling, ”Run, Lonnie, run!”
‘92 season: The hit by Francisco Cabrera that sent us back to the series will always be a special moment in Braves history. But losing another World Series we could’ve won was another heartbreak. Reardon blows a save in game 2...and then he gives a walk off single to lose game 3...
‘95: The magical season where they put it all together and won it all. As happy as I was, I was happier for my Dad. As soon as Grissom caught the last out, I immediately called my Dad. Never heard him happier; he reminded me how he told me that this was the Braves year...and he really did, but he’d been telling me that every year since ‘69. He was a vehement fan of all Atlanta sports teams and I’m glad he got to see one championship from them before he died...
Since, there has been more heartbreak, blowing the series in ‘96, getting swept in ‘98, and then outrages where we lose to the Marlins when the ump was giving their pitcher consistent strike calls on pitches up to a foot outside the strike zone, and the infamous 210’ infield fly rule called in the outfield. Here’s to hoping this core of players can bring us another one in the not too distant future. But if not, we’ll always have ‘95...

LETS frickING GO!!!! 3 MORE TO GO!!!
Posted on 10/13/20 at 10:28 am to mistaken4193
Chop! Chop! 6-0 playoff start!
1-9, challenging lineup for an opposing pitcher, effectively, deep bullpen, Max, Ian, & Kyle giving us 3 dependable starters at the right time.
Need 3 more wins for a trip to the World Series. It'll be a challenge against the favored Dodgers.
Braves playing with lots of confidence & enthusiasm right now.

I’m watching with one eye closed and hoping/praying the Atlanta sports team jinx doesn’t rear it’s ugly head. I’ve been a Braves fan for many years and suffered many heartbreaks. I’m watching and waiting to see Booby Cox waddle out of the dugout to make some completely mystifying dumbass call to cost us the title.

The jinx is dead. This team doesn't play scared, has SWAG and once Acuna got hit by the Marlins they went into fvck you mode.
They still probably won't win this series, but it won't be due to any of the old Braves issues, it'll be because the Dodgers are a fvckin death train and we're not quite there yet with starting pitching depth.

If Soroka hadn't gone down I think we beat them in 7. Fried last night was basically playoff Tom Glavine on the intensity scale.

Yea, the Soroka injury was a killer. Exciting to think about the future with 3 guys who have proven to be legitimate front line guys + Wright showing signs. At that point you are down to 1 of the remaining 6-7 prospects having to click and you have yourself a squad in that starting 5.
Fried last night was fvckin unreal. His competitive fire was on another level.
Ian will give us a good start tonight. I'm afraid Wright is going to struggle big time against a lineup like the Dodgers who won't chase his slider. But whatever, at this point, we'll just have to figure it out.
I mean for goodness sake we had Fat Panda at 3B, Charlie in RF and Austin in LF in the 9th inning of a NLCS game last night

FWIW & doesn't mean a damn thing but the last team to win the World Series in a shortened season was our 1995 Atlanta Braves.
