Offensive coaches aren't committed. Doug Marrone, in particular, mailed it in.

They thought they could serve a year here and get a sweet gig like Sarc.

No commitment to the players or the program.

I think Saban is fatigued from breaking in new staff. I remember a Saban quote from early this year. O'Brien recommended Marrone to Coach Saban and Saban's response was "Do you think he would take it?"

Seemed odd to me at the time.

I think Saban was frustrated by constant staff turnover and jumped at a ready made solution. He though all those years of experience would translate on the field.

The problem is, a coach must have his heart in it or his lack of commitment infects the players.

Saban is tired. There may be more to the story. It may just be being 70 post major surgery
This combined with historical success and the grind of constant turnover has taken a toll.

Is he done? No. Not necessarily. But he needs to retool with a younger, more committed staff.

Mercenaries with O'Brien and Marrone will suck the blood out of this program. Sarc and Lane had reputational issues that forced them to take a longer view. These two dudes are here for the wrong reasons.

This thread makes too many assumptions as fact.

I think the majority of Alabama fans don’t see BoB and Marrone working out. But none of that drivel is why.

Nick is going to have to take some of the blame since he recruited the OL talent on this roster. Joe Pendry couldn't make chicken salad out of the chicken shite we have at right tackle.

Nick will have to get two tackles from the portal and a new OL coach as well.

I’m not sold on the current OL talent being the issue.

Pay Jeff Stoutland whatever it takes to get him back as OL coach. Wouldn’t even have to break him in.

Have you looked at Marrone's resume? I'm sure that's why Saban said that.

Might could get Stoutland with an associate head coach or run game coordinator title. He’s pretty entrenched in Philly now. I’d like to have him back for sure. But there are other very good OL coaches out there. I just can’t believe available talent is the problem.

Maybe Marrone is just too far removed from teaching offensive line and is behind the times? I don’t know. His resume suggested he would be up to the job.

You might miss on a highly rated recruit...it happens to the best...but we just signed 3 of the top 10 OL in the country last class...to go along with the guys already in the pipeline. You can't tell me we missed on that many 5 star guys everyone else was after.

It's coaching on the OL...the lack thereof. Period.

Then why has none of that talent taken the spot of 85 and 79. Hell 74 was so bad 79 had to take over. They have on job and that was to raise up and block the one guy right in front of him!

It's not about talent you imbecile.

Hate to go to insults but so tired of you repeating the same bullshite because you want to find reason to deflect all blame to players.

You’ll have to ask the OL coach.

Come on man. Kendall Randolph has been one of our better players on offense this year.

Everybody recruited these linemen. I am pretty sure this group is the highest rated group of linemen in the nation . Not all but some were here last year. What changed?

I especially see Marrone jumping back to the NFL at the first opportunity.

Real Talk.

We lost three starters on the OL.

Saban had to talk to Darrian Dalcourt in the Auburn game because he was playing hurt. He told him if it is hindering your performance that he has to come out.

The majority of the OL talent that we do have is YOUNG outside Evan Neal, Emil Ekiyor, and Chris Owens.

We have 20 OL on the roster and what 14 of them are Sophomores (some redshirt) or younger?
