Najee, Billingsley, Smith, Waddle, Metchie. We need to sling it.

If Randolph has to help then who do you take out of the equation? Billingsley is too much of a weapon

If I'm being honest, this does concern me a slight bit.

PFF Pass Blocking (OL) vs. Notre Dame
1. Alex Leatherwood (79.2)
2. Evan Neal (62.0)
3. Deonte Brown (46.7)
4. Emil Ekiyor Jr (42.8)
5. Chris Owens (27.9)

I agree with you, there's a reason he was benched and Dickerson was moved over to Center last season.

I was wondering if there was a good way to judge his performance outside of not hearing his named called for mistakes. Thanks for posting.

Play action pass, with throws to Najee.

Not to downplay his shortcomings, but PFF is garbage when it comes to grading college football players and games. He needs to be good, but I’d take this evaluation with a grain of salt.

I take all PFF grades with a grain of salt, but especially on the lines. They have no idea who the play calls for anyone to block. You don't score at will if your center is an F-. Disruption in the middle blows everything up.

He isn't Landon Dickerson, but he's not a harvard transfer either

Hope we can use him in the passing game . If we are having trouble blocking the DL he will have to stay in to block bc he is excellent at pass protection . Owens cannot get pushed 3 yards in backfield

IDK with the players supposedly out with Covid and only watched them two games but they whipped Clemson OL all night. I am not so much worried about them specifically but Owens seems to get pushed around no matter the opponent when I watch him closely

Can't always go by PFF grades...
Chris did fine in the game.

offense will probably do some quick passes, screen and some play action

Yea he does fine when a team plays a four man front covering the guards. He can get to the second level or help pretty well

Not necessarily a question for you, but for PFF. How the hell do they know what everyone's blocking assignment is on every play? They don't!! They just throw shite on the wall and see what sticks!!
A reporter has asked Saban in the past about Ol grades and according to PFF, this player or that player scored this or that. Saban flat out told them that the PFF doesn't grade like the coaches do.
Are their %'s based on a One on One score?

Maybe SOG or one of the analytical guys here can help with PFF but as a coach , we graded on assignment and were they doing what they were taught to do . Maybe PFF has some formula above my head but I don’t see how it can consistently grade every play not knowing teams blocking schemes, pass protections etc

They did, however they have an average OL and we don’t. Same for our safeties, ours are better.
