As long as we can agree not to vote for anyone who praises open borders and promises free health care and college for votes..lol

Can you name one Alabama politician that does this?

A lot of the comments during football season make sense from this bunch now.
Sessions or Moore? Why don't we try to make a decision that prevents us from continuing to be a punch line to national media.

I have no love lost for Jeff Sessions, but this attitude sums up the rot of the current GOP. Sessions acted exactly how an AG with integrity should have.
This. The AG isn't a political position and its not there to support any single member of the government. The AG is there to read, interpret, and act upon our laws. That confused the hell out of POTUS thinking the AG is supposed to do his biddings.

The AG isn't supposed to sit there and let Rod Rosenstein appoint a Special Prosecutor for practically no reason with zero evidence to do it, on one day's deliberation.
You people forget where Rosenstein and Mueller were the day before Mueller was appointed.
Sessions was incompetent at best. A sellout at worst. He should never have taken the job.
How anyone could consider this man is beyond me.

If only that were true.
They had reasons to do so, whether some want to believe it or not.

One with integrity that has recused himself from dealing with anything Russian related is supposed to sit there. And Rosenstein would not have formed a Special Counsel had Trump not fired Comey. The AG's job is not to protect the president, despite what Trump has told you to believe.

I do agree with you there, but he does have more integrity than anyone else in this administration, though that isn't saying much.

Why do you people think Sessions would even be a factor? People would line up to vote against that man. I would vote for Moore over Sessions in a second and if it were Sessions and Jones I would sit it out.
Sessions sold out President Trump and did his country a huge disservice, and I will never forgive him. He made one mistake naming him AG, don't make another one backing that SOB down here.
Shelby is another one that needs to go. He's been in there too long. I'm not in love with Bradley Byrne but I'll hold my nose and support him, and I could live with Tubs.
And Shelby has been the biggest asset the State of Alabama has had in Washington since John Sparkman. The guy's one of the most powerful senators up there...the amount of money he's brought to this state is huge.

Sessions couldn't beat ME in this state right now. Let him jump in and watch him get destroyed.

"Unless Trump actively worked against him, Sessions would win in a cakewalk."
You can bet you arse that Sessions will know what Trump's position will be before he makes a move...that's where Shelby will come in. If Sessions enters the race, it's game over!

It's interesting to me having lived in both states. To say Tennessee produces superior legislative office holders would an understatement.

That's probably a function of how tenured they are in the Senate, which often rewards seniority with committee appointments.

quote:Certainly it does, and Alabama's had several very powerful and well respected Senators over the years. Hell, John Sparkman was the democratic vice presidential candidate in the '52 election, and Howell Heflin was at one time chairman of the Senate Ethics Committee.

Just seems like Tennessee had folks that both sides of the aisle respected (Fred Thompson, James Baker, Bill Frist).

They also gave us Albert Gore, Jr. Sr. was no prize either.
