I'm not a sunshine pumper or a negative Nancy... We lost a lot from last year and quite frankly this team is overall very young... Talented but young... They played uninspired and lost. It happens... BUT Bama can still win it all... Dropping to #5 isn't necessarily bad... For one it takes a lot of pressure off(of a YOUNG TEAM) to win every single game... The monkey is kinda off their back... Stuff happens and sometimes teams play put of their mind... Thanks A&M team played the game of their lives and they won..

All that said, this kick in the arse might be exactly what our team needs.. They also need our support... Love em when they win, love em even more when they lose... I can PROMISE you they'll play better next time around... Win out and Bama is right back in the SEC championship and CFB Playoffs...

Lastly it's hard to go undefeated... Takes a little luck at times... Even if we don't win it all, I can guarantee that all is not lost and this team will win at least 10 and go to a very good bowl... Out days of visiting Shreveport for the independence bowl are long gone... We'll be fine... Roll Tide...

We are fine if we don't lose anymore. This loss gives us a lot of things to work on. It is humbling, which is good. Not being negative, but I don't think we have the DB play or the WR play we need to win it all. But next year - I think the team will be unstoppable

Honestly, this feels a lot like 2010. 5-0, then got shocked at South Carolina, sleep-walked through a couple more games until losing a heartbreaker at LSU (might be Tennessee or Arkansas this year) and closed out the regular season with a fluky loss at Auburn.

Then in the Citrus Bowl we took out a season's worth of frustration on Michigan State. I think they were down to their 4th string QB at the end of that game.

Still blows my mind that with how uninspiring our WRs have been (outside of Williams), that Agiye Hall hasn’t even gotten any meaningful snaps so far this season. Gotta wonder if he just hasnt been showing up to class or not doing his schoolwork at all or something, because the kid is a beast and I have no doubt he would produce if given the chance.

Also, with the season ending injury to McLellan, we really need to think about burning Camar Wheaton’s redshirt. God forbid any of our other RBs get injured, but this kid is supposed to be pretty special as well.

Wheaton has been hurt since fall camp began. Meniscus issues.

We aren't redshirting him for the sake of redshirting. He isn't available due to injury.

It's pretty likely we'll lose more games unless Saban quits being stubborn and demands that Golding keep our defense simple -- stick to our basic nickel defense with zone coverage like we did vs Ole Miss. That works much better than Saban's complex "pattern matching" and the dumb blitz designs and other crap Golding schemes up and calls.

Output vs. Other Teams
Ole Miss: 52.5 PPG and 629.5 yards
A&M: 23.4 PPG and 376.6 yards

Output vs. Alabama
Ole Miss: 21 pts (-31.5) & 291 yards (-338.25)
A&M: 34 pts. (+10.6) & 379 yards (+2.4)

Ah okay - i heard he had an injury but thought it wasnt a long term issue, and we were red-shirting him because he was behind 4 other guys…

Now they have to win every game. And probably by 2 scores each.
Except if we make it to the SECCG vs Georgia, just have to win that game by 1.
But, we can't lose again,
or it'll be a Sugar bowl loss or Citrus bowl win to conclude the season.

Until we find a D lineman that can put some pressure on the QB, at least disrupt the pocket, this team will struggle.
We are way down on D line talent. And really at all the other def positions compared to other Saban Ala teams. Tell me one position group that compares to his other teams. There just are not many NFL bodies on our defensive side of the ball. At least on offense we have two guys that are pleasant surprises. IMO, if we had either Mac or Barmore playing at TAMU on Saturday, we would have won the game. If both had played for us, it probably would not have been in doubt late in the game.

The defense was supposed to be the key to this year.
"Best Saban defense" preseason talk really looks dumb
now.
We don't have any mean arse kids like before.

Not that being a good kid is a bad thing, but damn
I miss having a few thugs that would frick people up
on defense. It's like they all have Tua's attitude.
That's great in life, but in football....Not so much

As long as the LBs in particular know their assignments and when to pass off, the pattern matching shouldn’t be *too* difficult, but I agree. Simplify it for everyone.

Golding is absolutely ruining us with those drawn out blitzes. What makes no sense to me during the TAMU game was, he continued doing it even though it had no effect whatsoever. At some point you’d think, “screw it, have 3 with their hands in the dirt and 8 in the back.” But he stubbornly kept up the blitzing.

This team is young and I think a loss is the kind of maturity they require to really understand the gravity of not preparing correctly.

A 1-loss Bama team is still very capable as you can see from all seasons below that weren't undefeated seasons. We didn't experience regular season losses in 2009, 2016, 2018 or 2020. Only two of those resulted in championships.

2010: Loss to South Carolina. Finished 10-3 and ranked #10. 3rd loss was to eventual National Champions.
2011: Loss to LSU at home by 3pts. Finished as National Champions.
2012: Loss to TAMU at home by 5pts. Finished as National Champions.
2013: Kick Six at AU last game of season. Finished 11-2 and ranked #7. AU made the championship.
2014: Loss at Ole Miss by 6pts. Went to playoffs, lost to eventual national champions OSU, finished 12-2 and ranked #4.
2015: Loss to Ole Miss at home by 6pts. Finished as National Champions.
2017: Loss at AU last game of season. Finished as National Champions.
2019: Loss to LSU at home by 5pts. Finished 11-2 and ranked #8. LSU wins championship.
2021: Loss at TAMU by 3pts...?

4 of Saban's 6 national championships at Bama happened during a season we experienced a regular season loss.

I will give DJ Dale credit. He has owned up to our shortcomings and what we need to do to improve . His one quote “ Honestly, we got hit in the mouth “. No excuses

Bryce will need to play very well going forward for us to beat MSU, UT, ARK, and AU. You just can't count on this defense getting any better at this point.

JMO but I would like to see a little bit more 2008/2009 Nick Saban fire on the sideline instead of the laid back Nick Saban. Make the water guy have to work a little harder to keep up.
