Should the jersey numbers 22 and 6 be earned not given ?

Nah! Let it be. Kids that come in and receive these numbers all know the history, some more recent than others. Gameday lockers at BDS had the previous All-Americans' names on a plate to let them know just how special those numbers are.

I had no idea LSU was doing it.
Well, I dont like the idea of a scrub wearing 22, and I'm kinda hoping that Wheaton has the stones to request 22. That's what got me wondering about it.

So Alabama football could go on for another thousand years and we are never to have another tradition ? Why not ? USC, ND, etc. dont have the trophy case we do, but they have more traditions, and it appears from the outside looking in the fanbase and players enjoy them.
I'll say this- if no new tradition comes out of winning 6 titles in 12 years then I reckon we are tradition proof.

What I mean to say is that if you told Auburn fans that they'd win 6 of the next 12 national championships if the eagle died, you'd have 40,000 rednecks with shotguns show up to kill that bird within 90 minutes.

Subconsciously we do. I think many Alabama fans react positively when they see a QB wearing #12 or a WR wearing #2.
