Biggest question is whether TX & OK "move in" earlier than the 2025 season.

Last I read, they didn't want to pony up the exit fee to leave early. That could change, but I don't see the Big 12 letting them out of it in any way.

That South division would be a killer

Too unbalanced . North would be a cakewalk

I really would like to get away from playing Auburn last game of the season. Very disadvantageous for Alabama.

From SECRant A&M poster:
quote:

Regardless of when they leave, they have to give 18 months notice, and the league will then withhold two years worth of revenue (which is paid at the end of the year, so there will be two payment dates within that 18 months). That doesn't really change much regardless of which year they go.

The problem is that, if they want to come before 2025, they have to find a way to buy themselves out of the grant of rights--there is no buyout provision, and they can't just leave and tell the Big XII to sue them because if they did that, they wouldn't bring their TV rights when they come to the SEC.

On the other hand, if they just wait until 2025, then they regain their TV rights and don't have to pay anything out of pocket (just suffer the loss of that last 2 years of conference distributions).

There are some other factors that have reinforced the Okies' view that they probably need to wait until 2025, but money is the largest factor.

Usually more on the line for Alabama. It’s a one game season for Auburn.

More money in a 10 game conference schedule.

not really, not if every team schedules 2 power 5 foes

a 10 game schedule screws UGA, UF, SC & KY because of long standing in state rivals

9 games makes the most sense

No, it doesn't.
If a 10 game SEC schedule is announced, would Georgia still not be able to play Tech??
Or was Georgia counting on playing at least 2 flunkies every year?

There won't be 10 SEC games, 4 pods, 3 fixed rivals, or 6 rotating games. Sneak preview

Note: The NCAA requires conferences with 12 or more teams to have 2 divisions.

The OP solution accommodates the non-SEC rivalries (FL-FSU, GA-GT, KY-LV, SC-CU).

8 game conference games in a 16 team league is shameful and the SEC would deserve every ounce of ridicule it got.

9 SEC games are needed with 16 teams.
