That's just it. Comparisons. I think because the Tua era after 2nd and 26 is a bit of a letdown. Maybe he set the bar so high in that one half of magical football that it could never be lived up to.

If Mac takes us wire-to-wire and we win a 'ship, then IMO he'll rank higher in my mind.

If mac jones wins the SEC championship this year, he will have more SEC championships than Tua as a starter. If not for Jalen Tua would have none.

I love Tua, he's probably the best pure talent we've seen up until this point.

But:

Every time he got hit, I cringed, wondering if he was hurt and could play on.

Every time Mac gets popped, the dude gets up angry about the play he missed.

This isn't a negative about Tua, it's an observation about how each responds to physicality. I hope Tua tears it up in Miami and wins OPOY when he gets the start.

frick anyone who hates on Tua. Guy is respectable and a class act. Yes he lacks some awareness and can be careless at times. But he's still damn tough and a great QB.

I’ll bite. No one is bashing Tua. He’s the fourth best qb in the Saban era. That’s bashing? So when everyone is up in arms wanting to fire Golding it’s okay though? Ha, laughable. Tua was a fine quarterback who was made of glass and got the poor “me’s” when down. Secondly he would have been knocked out of the game on that second hit Mac took last night. Get over it.

It's just too soon to compare. Tua, if I remember correctly, went 14-0 his first starting season losing only to Clemson when their defense stopped us and ours couldn't stop them. Mac is just now into his first starting season (and a shortened one at that). I (and Tua) will be thrilled if he turns out to be more successful. Too soon to start counting chickens.

Mac Jones can be praised without bashing Tua. So many fans are taking the opportunity to downplay Tua. We may not have another top 5 QB in the draft in our lifetime.

They both played for the team you love.

With a fan base as large as Alabama's, you'll invariably find a number of youngsters, dim-wits, and just plain fools voicing their opinions. Unfortunately, it seems that group make their "opinion" public more often than most.

that sounds like a LSU fan. Besides that, you have to give Tua credit for winning the national title, after coming in relief of a healthy Jalen Hurts, if you give Jalen credit for coming in relief of an injured Tua in the SEC title game

Seems like you don’t like hearing that your savior isn’t esteemed by the majority as you would hope. Bless your heart.

I really love how this offense is playing and our style a whole lot more than the tua offense.

On pure raw talent, Tua was the best QB at Bama at least since Namath...but yes, he was injury prone and it probably cost us a 2nd NC with him under center.

A guy's NFL success always either enhances or diminishes their college career perceptions. Trent Richardson was a great college RB, but because of his NFL flameout, his college legacy is tarnished to a degree.

Anyway, Tua hasn't even played yet for Miami. If he becomes a Pro Bowl NFL QB in time, his college legacy will only grow in the eyes of fans. Just the way human perception works.

Must be something about the Polynesian race that has you bent over. Your prejudice is ridiculous. The only thing that has let us down during Tua's stay was our defense. And it may very well repeat itself with Mac Jones. In the meantime, you very much sound like a racist.

Just testing, say something nice about Bryce Young?

This is a good example of a comparison that makes sense.

Yes that is. That’s an absolutely ridiculous statement. Coker is by no means a more talented QB then Tua. AJ also played with monster defenses.

When did this happen? Give me one example.

I don't think it makes a ton of sense to blame Tua for the shitty run blocking the last two years and give Mac credit for this OL being really good at it. It's a lot easier to be balanced on offense when you can pick up 3-5 yards on the ground whenever you need to without a big threat of negative plays. We are still running the same basic offense. We still run a decent bit of RPO. We just don't have to throw the ball as much because we are staying ahead of the sticks better. Tua has more arm talent than Mac, but Mac seems to be better at reading the flow of the game and knowing when to go for the throat and when to take the 7 yards they're giving you.

Racism!? At least I now know what I’m dealing with. Victim mentality. Get over yourself. Never seen Young take a snap so I can’t speak to him. Jalen hurts tho, better than Tua. More heart. More grit. More class. Sorry you can’t handle it.

The only victim here is your lack of football acumen.

I hear ya bud. Get out of your feelings. Tua couldn’t finish a season. Made of glass. Couldn’t finish when not up by a wide margin. Jalen bailed his arse out against Georgia. Tua made one play his entire career so y’all drool over him. I’d take Jalen ten times over again instead of him.
