Man I hate the NCAA...
Wish they had this from the beginning if they are going to institute this now.
It will basically make players on rosters open to bidding. Transfer portal didn't hurt the game. Finding a way to compensate players wouldn't hurt the game.
This definitely would.

Way to wait a year after JQ gets declared ineligible.

Terrible idea at first take. Hurts the sense of loyalty to team, and hurts the ability of coaches to coach a kid hard, including with consequences. Perhaps hurts the marginal attitude kid whom coaches know they are going to need to ride a bit. Who wants to waste a scholly on a kid who is a little bit of an attitude issue knowing he’s likely to be somewhere else year two?

This is not a good idea. Recruiting would basically never end. If they do follow through on this the penalties for tampering need to be incredibly harsh.

No more guys like Carson Wentz or Khalil Mack drawing attention to smaller schools...they gone.

I feel as though the NCAA does anything it can to make sports worse.

First the cap switch on signing day, now this. Should be fun.
So, bad. So, so bad.

Mark Rietch* said it best....I spend all this time recruiting a kid, and then we coach him to be an amazing player just for him then to up and leave to a better college.

So long as coaches can up and leave, I don't have an issue with players having some flexibility to leave.

Student-athletes in all sports would no longer need an NCAA waiver for immediate eligibility, provided they:
Receive a transfer release from their previous school
I’m pretty sure this is the protection for the schools. This isn’t the transfer portal where the school has no say. If the NCAA does this right (and they most likely won’t ) it should be fine.

Had a teammate transfer to Auburn. Glad that fricker had to sit out. We only have 9.9 scholarships, so losing one of your better athletes hurts a bunch in sports that don't give 85 full rides.

Most inept organization in the world. If they aren’t, they are very near the top of the list.

I really think this is just a spicy headline. What this is really about is the NCAA trying to get from under making the transfer waiver decisions and putting it on the schools. Now the schools are the bad guy if they don't give you the waiver because the ability to play is automatic if your academics and conduct is order.

This would end the group of 5 schools ever having a shot at a title.

This will not impact them. They don't have to grant the waiver if they think the kid is transferring just to go to a power 5 program.

Looks like the NCAA is finally giving up on the fantasy they could ever be fair and impartial. A little reality might be good for everyone.
