According to Stephen M. Smith

If true, Najee is going to ball.

I will say, I just saw a video on his twitter page, and I believe he has lost a little weight. Stil all muscle, but might be a little more lean

Najee was probably a 4.6-4.7 guy before. Might be 4.5 now. You don’t shave .3 off your 40 lol

Auburn guys are easily running a 4.1 or 4.2. To think anything differently is pure propaganda.

True, but if he was 4.6, he could've easily shaved .15 off to get to 4.45. Everything I've been hearing is the new staff is allllll about speed. Hearing he wouldn't be the only one to shave .1-.2 off their 40.

I could run a 4.5 at Auburn with a pulled hamstring and on crutches

We’ll see.

Damien Harris was the last back Bama had that dramatically increased his speed while on campus. His first year or two - he was caught from behind many times. He was running away from folks after that.

I’ve yet to see Najee break a long one yet. We’ll see.

No one has. His longest rush from scrimmage in 3 yrs has been 35 yds; that said, pretty interesting that he still avgs 6.1 YPC.

His longest play from scrimmage was a 42 yd reception, but it was a pretty good catch and run. Najee TD catch and run vs USCe

I really can't think of a back similar to Najee in recent memory. Steven Jackson that played at Oregon State and later with the Rams is who comes to mind. He's an all-purpose back that's 6'2" 230.

He doesn't have Todd Gurley's top end speed, but I think he's better out of the backfield than Todd was at UGA and I think he runs the ball harder than Todd did at UGA, which is saying something.

Lot of factors played into that:

1. We threw a lot last year.
2. We didn't really throw much to RBs
3. Harris didn't really get a chance to break out a huge run.

We may see few of that this fall, if we do get to play.

That gem we got of Najee at South Carolina is all you have to know about his skill set. I believe one of the reasons he continues to get away with the high hurdle is the man's ability to just go up almost from a standing start. Other backs who try this seems more like they need a running start and it might make them a little more vulnerable to getting caught in the air. Najee gets right up on a player and just starts climbing. Amazing lift for such a big guy.

Anyway, his speed is not as important for this guy's career with his elusiveness on such display. Walter Payton and Emmitt Smith are one and two on top of the NFL food chain and both were not speed-demons. They both did it with amazing elusiveness, agility, strength, and balance.

Najee's running style has always reminded me of Le'Veon Bell's. Neither have great breakaway speed, but they run with exceptional patience, combined with incredible burst/power. His ability to go from stopping, followed by a quick, powerful burst makes it easy for him to leap over people IMO. I gets the defender off balance, and out of sync.

How about that catch on a back shoulder throw in the corner of the end zone vs LSU? Wow! There was another play in that game where he absolutely trucked an LSU linebacker trying to tackle him. The guy went flying back into the turf and Najee kept running.

Najee played his arse off against LSU, actually our entire team. They never quit. LSU was a great team.

The catch was unreal for a guy of his size. Kept us squarely in it.
