Unless he wants to be a part of the college scene and enjoy all the good and bad that come with that, I’d go north of the river (Northport mainly but also some parts of Ttown) or downtown. Could also look south of town down 69 though that area has gotten over built for a small town. If he’s a redneck who generally doesn’t like people (like me), you can get out in the sticks quick and for cheap. If money isn’t an issue, I’d look at the lake.

24 and single, I'd be looking for something downtown. If not downtown, just across the river from downtown in downtown Northport. The Queen City Ave area from University to 15th St, and the area around Capitol Park are my two favorite areas of town. Not many apartment complexes in either, but plenty of rental houses. Friend of mine rented a carriage house from an elderly couple just off Queen City that was awesome, both in location and condition.

Avoid anything near:
Hey 69 S
Skyland Blvd
McFarland Blvd (south of University Mall)

I would go north of the river for sure. That’s where my next move will be.

We need to figure out what is wanted.
True these areas aren't close to campus, per se, and the apartments here aren't the best, but they may have a decent value and are close to other shopping needs.
But, it can be easily stated to stay away from anything West of I359.
