Craig Kuligowski a "massive" hire for Bama
Most non-talked-about huge thing in current Bama fandom. This is a bigtime, difference-making hire.

We talk about him all the time in teh MEGATHREAD.

He built elite DLs at Missouri with unknown guys. Had a quick impact at Miami. I can not wait to see what he does with the talent Alabama will accumulate on the DL.

I guess I just missed it when I have made it over to the megathread, but my point wasn't really about him not being talked about - it was about what a big deal his hiring is.
Also, I'm not a fan of megathreads. I get it for niche things like recruiting or baseball or whatever, but an offseason football megathread? If you are doing that, what's stopping you from having a season megathread or decade megathread? Why not just one thread for everything all the time always?
I like being able to find easily and discuss specific topics, and megathreads prevent that. I also think stickied football megathreads decrease overall participation from users. Seeing individual threads on that front page is what gets people posting.

I'm hard as a diamond in a snowstorm with anticipation.

I get surprised at how little conversation get's conducted here. Come back three weeks later and it's basically the same threads with very little change. Seems like this place ought to be very active as we can discuss things of interest without having the latest iteration of tweaked up adolescents and over-grown adolescents ripping off every stupid idea that comes to their mind.
Oh, well, I'm old. Everybody's probably hanging out on some obscure site that I've never heard of.

The convo is in the pinned mega threads and unfortunately if you start a topic about something that the regulars in those threads are already talking about you get scolded and then nobody participates in your thread and folks act as if you are stupid for posting elsewhere. I am with prevatt in that I don't keep up with those pinned threads and when I try to read the last few pages I am lost and find that most of the posts are off topic anyway and those off topic issues can go on for pages.

Also can't wait to see what he does with a couple of those guys not as talented at positions of need specifically the inside guys. Gonna be weird going from Robinson/Reed/Payne to the smaller, less heralded guys we have manning the middle this year.

It's just the deadest part of the off-season - from the end of spring to beginning of fall camp. And actually, it's usually more dead than this. This offseason has had a bit if discussion to it. Normally during May, June, and July on here, it's a literal ghost town.

Start a thread about Hurts and this place will light up like a Christmas tree.

Agreed. Rarely hit the megathreads because of this. I'm not sure why topic specific threads are so frowned upon.
Recruiting is the only one I hit regularly.

I don't hit it regularly because there are sometimes pages of personal talk, jokes and general horsing around. I did read through the last 8 pages last night though and it gave me wood. I am not criticising the off topic stuff btw, it's just that I personally don't care to wade through it to get to the good stuff. The regulars in the thread seem like a close knit group and their hard work and info is top notch and I certainly appreciate them whether it sounds like it or not. Seriously guys, thank you very much. I would like to see regular unpinned topics about individual recruits sometimes with legitimate talk etc. even if the same info has been debated in the pinned thread. For example, if I wanted to strictly start a thread about that badass DE/OLB from California it would be nice to have real responses other than "we have a mega thread for this type question". For now I will ask in that mega thread, I am just saying maybe not restrict all recruiting talk to just that thread alone. A anyway, sorry for the small rant and the issue isn't one that pisses me off or deserves special consideration and thanks again for the free info.

Back on topic, we have two potential first round draft picks at DE on the line this year and I already expect great years from both Buggs and big boy from Meridian.
What I want to see is how he impacts the other guys not as gifted as those two. Mathis, Ray, Williams and Dwight. If he can maximize production from them and we don't get injured at ILB our front seven may be scary good again.
We still won't have a Tim Williams or Ryan Anderson to terrorize quarterbacks like we did in 16 but if coach Kool can make a Jon Allen out of Buggs or Ray etc.we may be good enough to have an elite pass rush anyway.
If Anoma can learn on the fast track then he is our best chance at having a true monster rushing the edge again. Jennings and company are pretty good though. I am pretty excited about the potential of the front guys even if I am terrified about how we do at NG and interior line play. Can't wait.

I think I really, really disagree with the sentiment behind this statement.
Are you implying that we are somehow "less than" at the OLB position? This is easily the deepest and most talented top-to-bottom than we've ever been at OLB, and if we can stay healthy, has the makings of what could be the most dominant OLB pass rushing group under Saban.
We go 4 players deep before there's any drop off, and our 3rd stringers are incredibly solid. This should easily be Saban's best OLB to date. It's the deepest position on our roster.

Hall, Jennings and Miller are great pass rushers. Those are the first 3 off the top of my head. I'm not worried about the pass rush from our OLBs. We are loaded

We may be deep but you can't seriously tell me we have anyone that has shown glimpses of the pass rushing skill of our 2016 unit. Maybe I am wrong and I hope I am but you guys are talking about Jennings, Hall and Miller being elite pass rushers when they haven't shown anything on the field to back it up. A little too much crimson shades here I'm afraid. Talk and hype are one thing while production and results are another.
We may go 3 or even 4 deep by midseason but I don't see the monster that TW was in any of our guys and I don't see how any of you do. Tim Williams single handily ruined an A-Day game by abusing the LT and sacking the quarterback every other play.
I know we are stacked with a ton of potential but until they do it on the field it doesn't make sense to put their name alongside one of the best pass rushers to ever play here.
If they produce even close to what the 2016 unit did then yeah, elite will describe them but right now? Nope.

4. Landis Durham - Texas A&M (2.15)

That graft is great and clearly Jennings is a "good" pass rusher. He is not elite or in the same mold as our 2016 duo and we barely have any stats on the other two guys. I just think it is premature to say our guys are elite when they have done nothing to verify it. Let's hope they take that step this year.

The only thing I question about any of them is durability. With Miller, I really think he is player heavier than he should. They bulked him up too much. Im a dumbass though and that's just my opinion
