For a WR, he blocks like a mad man. Therefore he can step anyway he likes.
The one constant during the Saban years with our WRs is how they support the run game with their blocking. Julio used to crush people*.
*Go YouTube the '09 SECCG and watch the opening kickoff. Don't watch the return man. Watch Julio.

Did you graduate from UA in 1972?

What use to be "hot dogging" is now the norm.
Maybe. Maybe not. And maybe it was a nod to Teague. But what Teague did in 1992 might well have been penalized today and wiped out his TD, depending on the crew officiating the game and how they interpreted it. Like it or not, it cost Brad Wing a TD.
I'm not talking about what Metchie or Cyrus Jones or anyone else may have done to juke an opponent or avoid a tackle. I'm talking about a situation like Teague where there is no defender in sight.

I thought it was a bit two fold, 1st when he caught the ball on the left sideline and the guy picked him up and threw him down on his back... then the next catch he was in the open field and "Showed" them... you may get me now and then, but I am going to be here all day, and will score when we need to...High Stepping was giving it back to them, the second time he seemed to use it to juke the DB and was forced out of bounds

George Teague high stepped in the 92' title game in route to a touchdown, so I'll allow it.

Yep - go back and watch old videos of even Alabama under Stallings. There was WAY more high-stepping, dancing, TD moves/dances, etc. than today
Sherman Shake baby (10 sec mark)

It was in every aspect of his game. He was ALWAYS on the job.
Go back and watch Cody’s game saving FG block against Tennessee. He blocks it, but that’s a live ball.
The guy that knew that, ran straight to it and covered it while everyone was going nuts? Julio Jones. Total focus all the way to the end.

I liked that, but Derrick Lassic doing the Redd Foxx heart attack was fricking classic

It’s a dead leg, to me. High step isn’t really much of a celebration anyways. It could be worse

I can’t believe we managed to field an elite receiving group again despite losing what we have the past 2 years
Aside from Metchie and Williams, who is elite in the WRs group?

Having 2 elite wide receivers (I'd argue I need to see more from Williams to say he's elite) is a pretty big deal

Couldn't find an existing gif, so I made one.
Now I feel like I'm teetering on the ledge of that slippery slope that'll have me posting like WillyT at the bottom

If others teams don’t want Metchie to taunt, then stop him

Yeah, Miami was the worst offender during the 80s and early 90s. It caused the NCAA to ban excessive celebrations and taunting in the early 90s.
Like everything else in society, it goes through cycles of excess and restraint, and we're currently in an excess "Let the kids do, say, wear whatever they want" phase. Unfortunately, some of us got to be teenagers and college students during the more restrictive 90s and oughts.
Examples: my year in HS was the first year the state instituted the 4x4 graduation requirements and a graduation exam on the 11th grade level. We also had "No tolerance" fighting rules and what not. My parents graduated in the late 70s when they could take shite like "children's lit" in HS. Now for kids today they've done away with the graduation exam completely, done away with no tolerance rules, and kids are staging walk outs and disobeying dress codes like kids of the late 60s and 70s. No one was protesting or doing walk outs in the 90s or early oughts. They had us under strict control at the time, there was heavy punishments for stuff like that. They even had gates on the school parking lots at my HS and locked them during school hours. Not so anymore.
It can be annoying to those of us who came of age during more restrictive times, just like it was to the middle aged during the 60s and 70s. We're the Red Foremans and Archie Bunkers now.

You are right, society changes and depends what part of the country you are living in. Most of the wild things started on the west coast and slowly (and fast in some cases) moved to the south. There was a time that if you got in trouble at school, your parents were totally embarrassed and you got worn out when you got home. We never considered it abuse. It was GOOD PARENTING.
