Per the Montgomery Advisor

quote:

“His plan is to return for his senior year because he said he has unfinished business,” Sandra Wilson told the Advertiser on Monday afternoon, “meaning he did not get the award that he was aiming to get, so he said he’s going to focus on his degree as well as the award he’s trying to get his senior year.”

Seems odd to turn down the NFL just to win the Butkus, but I guess if he thinks he can push himself into the first round then more power to him. He's certainly not a first rounder right now.

That's great news for Bama. Need that experience in the front 7 because we lose a lot. He's not first round this year, so it could end up being good for him in the long run if he can elevate his game.

So 2019 defense.....

DL - LaBryan Ray (JR)
BG - Phidarian Mathis (SO), Christian Barmore (R-FR)
DL - Raekwon Davis (SR)?
OLB - Anfernee Jennings (SR), Terrell Lewis (SR) ?
OLB - Chris Allen (JR), Eyabi Anoma (SO)
ILB - Mack Wilson (SR), Ale Kaho (SO)
ILB - Dylan Moses (JR)
FS - Jared Mayden (SR)
SS - Xavier McKinney (JR)
CB - Patrick Surtain (SO)
CB - Savion Smith (SR)/Trevon Diggs (SR)
STAR - Shy Carter (SR)

Others?
DB - Jared Mayden, Josh Jobe, Eddie Smith, Kyriq McDonald, Kalyn Armour-Davis

LB - Cameron Latu, Jarez Parks, Markail Benton, Freshmen

Jeebus that is a fvckin unit if we lock down the interior DL. If everybody who "should" come back (Lewis, Jennings, Carter, Diggs) plus Raekwon coming back.......we have veterans all over the back 7. That may be the deepest DB unit I can ever remember.

Where do you guys think he would have been drafted had he left? Not that it matters and I am glad he chose to come back. Hope he takes it home next year and adds draft value to his position.

He was on almost every analysts board as a top 64 talent, so at worst 3rd round?

I've read a few places that people close to Terrell Lewis think he's really anxious and wants to play well in the playoffs (if he plays) and jump into the Draft. But, who knows about that.

If not........you would have to think he and Jennings both come back. If Davis gets back a 2-3rd round grade you'd have to think he comes back.

I mean, I'm not being a homer with that am I? That's reasonable and logical.

I can't even imagine Saban would let him come back if he's got info he'll be a Top 5-7 pick.

I know Davis a bit from teaching him as a grad student, he may choose to help his fam out and go even if his grade isn't first 2 rounds. Otherwise I think you are right on.

Williams coming back would be stupid, end of the day we want him to go be a top 5 pick and a stud in the NFL because it only helps us in recruiting and prevents a nightmare if god forbid he got injured.

Not a chance in hell. He's got significant snaps in four games since he's been on campus at Alabama. FSU which he got hurt,Auburn,Clemson, and Georgia.

He may want to just try and get some good film and go, no matter whether he gets picked or not. All these injuries have to be weighing on him.

The guy's got to show that he can physically hold up to it...always a big issue to the pros.

not sure he would have been a top 2 round pick this year. He needs to get his foot 100% and show off next year

Great reference of all the draft selections and the amount of money for each selection.

Ronnie Harrison...round 3 #93....3.3 TOTAL contract with a signing bonus of 803K.....sounds great but that is actually ALL THE MONEY owed to him!! They can cut him today without paying another dime. Counting on that 2nd contract is really a stretch.

He'd probably go round one because he has the skill set that teams look for in LBers early in the draft. Wilson compares pretty favorably as a prospect to dudes like Shaq Thompson, Deion Jones and Darron Lee. Most teams aren't drafting a LB round one to stop the run.

Lewis wouldn't get drafted, no way he jumps.

Q and Joanh Williams are gone, both top 10 picks. Thompson is gone, he already graduated and will be a 1st round pick. No reason for him to come back.

Jacobs and Irv Smith should come back, can become 1st round picks next year. R. Davis and Jennings need to come back to improve their draft position.
