Yeah Mac is going first round, period.

If we get 6 we tie the record with Miami, we get 7 we take it. Right now it looks like we break the all time record of 31.

I hope Mac wins the Senior Bowl MVP Award

Driving into work this morning in Atlanta listening to sports talk they are all talking about him.
Justin Fields was the guy they wanted, but after yesterday all of sudden Mac is the guy that they are talking about. He lack of mobility has been a concern, but they are saying if he can throw a ball like that, we don't need him to run like Justin, Vick, etc.

To me, Matt Ryan is a good NFL comparison for Mac.

awesome that Mac developed so well as to become a potential 1st round pick. That's a great example for any player to keep working and bide their time if necessary.

I was assured that Mac is only capable of throwing to wide open 5* Heisman finalists. It's crazy that he developed so much in just a couple of weeks.

But, but, but...
sick of the haters. I see a lot of QBs miss wide open receivers. Didn’t matter if they were open or not, Mac didn’t miss many throws period.

Was going down a rabbit hole watching John Doe videos and he was pointing out how stellar Mac is in making reads and checking down when the plays aren't there. he is far more sophisticated in his development and his reads than the average college QB

Your average armchair expert doesn’t watch tape. They just watch highlights.
I feel like football is also a sport where things are WAY harder then they look. Lot of that stuff looks kind of easy to many viewers. A lot of people think they can run through a wide open hole or complete a pass to a wide open receiver. That’s why when you see a non-American watching the sport, they generally don’t seem very impressed.
I feel like this is especially true when it comes to passing. Most people know juking or hurdling people is really hard. But knowing the playbook, reading a defense, and anticipating your receivers are mental so you don’t see it play out. Putting the pass exactly when it needs to be, and hitting your guys in stride is a lot harder then looks too. So much perfection of the timing and throw is involved because you have to be near precise as possible.

Mac has a significant advantage over the other QBs in the draft when it comes to this kind of thing. His learning curve won't be nearly as steep. Clemson and BYU don't do much of anything pro style, and Fields often struggles to execute the pro style aspects of Ohio State's passing scheme. Mac has a good chance of hitting the ground running if he goes to a competent franchise with a QB friendly system.

I think part of that is his brain. He is way smarter than almost all the players on the field. Payton Manning used to talk about QBs having the IT factor. He said he could watch a QB for a few minutes and tell if they had IT. Jones just figures it out very quickly and makes quick decisions. And you can see him making sure the other players are lined up correctly and moving them around. Then you add in something like the Senior Bowl, where they have to learn a new offense, and Mr brains gets it down faster than the others.
And then, the guy might not run a fast 40, but he feels the pressure and moves up and away from pressure. You dont see him backing away from pressure. On top of that he is the most accurate QB I have ever seen, with incredible touch. Cole Cublic went off on him several weeks ago, before the playoffs, talking about how well he handles all the motion that Ala runs, and what a long leash they have given him--and well earned per Cublic. He went on and on about all the stuff Ala was doing on offense and ended up saying that the offense Alabama is running is just a lot to ask for a college defense to try to stop. Cublic added that you could take Smith out and it would still be a lot for a college defense to handle. And we saw that when Smith went out vs Ohio St. That slowed us down but we still scored every time until Saban called off the dogs. I just wish he had not come at the same time Tua was here. Maybe the best QB we have had, and only one year. But it was a dang good one.

He was pointing out that Fields and Trask are just running pre-designed plays. I.E. they call the play and that is what they are going to run irrespectively. Get the ball out there and let the receiver make a play. That worked out pretty good for UF because they had some monster, athletic tight ends so they got some favorable personel mismatches on us.
However Mac is playing on another higher level: quickly analyzing the defenses, calling audibles at the line, and taking what they are giving... and if that is checking down his reads and getting quick 7-8 yard chunks at a time and just methodically moving the ball down the field then we will take that. Sure he had an NFL caliber line and playmakers like Smith and Najee but he is playing like a sophisticated NFL QB would be expected to....

Mac was doing well again in drills before he came up limping just a few minutes ago.

but Alabama is quickly developing a reputation for elite qbs and for potential getting to the NFL. Hurts, Tua, and Jones one after the other is going to continue to help us. Here's hoping Young will keep it going.
