Johnson averaged 32.8 yards per punt with a long of 36. That’s not even a decent average for a high school punter. That is abominable and puts us in a disadvantage in big games. UGA gained field position every time they forced a punt. Perine kicks it better. We’ve seen it. Why the hell isn’t he punting? Why aren’t we holding open tryouts? That’s just ridiculous and silly.

I’ll be honest, I’d like to see Reichard take over punting. He is actually not bad.

Also- Can we not find a kicker capable of kicking it into the end zone?

Didn't he get hurt trying to punt last year?

No, on a kickoff hit the ground. The punt he did hurt it again or something like that.

Reichard boomed Kickoffs out of the endzone with ease last year. But I don’t think Saban wants to risk him kicking a tee again

Where’s Perine at?? I thought he did a great job last season

Weren’t four of his punts within the 15?

I don’t think he had a long punt all night

Our kicking and punting continually yielded field position to Georgia ,you cannot do that against good offenses. It is a mystery and an enigma.

Reichard kicked off at least twice tonight and never made it past the 5.

Seriously, anyone has to be better than the guy we have now.*

*at punter

AMEN!
Finding a punter and a kick off man who can reach the end zone (damn kicking high and short if they're bringing it back to the 35-40 yard line...or worse) should be priority #2 just behind finding a pass rush package.

You think there are that many goalkeepers with strong legs walking around campus?

He can try to kick the tee now all he wants. A new design came out that all but eliminates the ability to kick the tee and doesn’t cause injury even if you manage to accomplish it.

It became available the week after Reichard got hurt last year.

LINK

The FG/PAT problem is finally over but the punting game is abysmal. I’m like everyone else - you can’t tell me with a student body the size of Bama’s there isn’t some kid on campus that can spit out 40-45 yarders with good hang time. Find him.

have none of you paid any attention to cns when he's been asked about kickoffs? he said, we purposefully kick it to around the 5 yl in the hopes of pinning them deep.

i to have been frustrated with punting. the guy that saved the day last year got kicked to the curb for the bowl game ans apparently forever. why? why? why? bring back ty perine, geez!

Yeah, the average really isn't fair to him because 3 of the punts were inside the 20.

However, the one time we needed a good punt from around our own 30, he shanked it out of bounds. That was actually his shortest kick of the night and gave UGA the ball around their 45 yard line. If I recall correctly.

I think the kickoff situation gets brought up each week. Coach wants to pin them deep in their territory, last night was a terrible version of what happens.

we seldom got it inside the 10 and they made it past the 30. I think our first KO we had a good open field tackle and got them around the 20
