You gotta remember how absolutely terrible Tennessee is on offense

People are forgetting Tennessee’s offense is god awful. Dead last in the conference in scoring and total offense against P5 teams. And we played their backup and then 3rd string QB.

The defense didn’t have a bad performance or anything, just saying you can’t just look at the stats without context.

was stuffed. Shane Lee pushes a lineman back into The QB causing the fumble. We get that stop anyways

Yeah, and we would have had the ball on our own 1 yard line with a backup QB. We’d still have had a case of puckered buttholes. That fumble was the game.

At least twice on 3rd and 8 or longer we have #99 at rush end on the right side. No excuse for that.

The defense does not "suck" but they are not nearly as elite as we are used to during the Saban era.

When you are used to A+'s a B- seems bad.

Of course I remember they suck. My point is that the offensive production they got tonight was less than they got against UGA. Less by a handful of yards than they got against Florida, and hundreds of yards less than they got against everyone else.

The defense isn’t elite at all. It cannot hold up against LSU, but tonight the numbers are if anything better than could have been expected.

Think about it. If Moses and Mcmillion are playing since game 1, this defense looks 100% better. These kids were not playing this year and were playing ball in high school last year. I expected average ILB play but the DL is killing me. It’s time to get angry and take fricking charge.

DL gets whipped in almost every game. Not sure what we can get out of them.

You’re also the guy who is a horrible “qb guru” so I’m not surprised at this take

We are soft in the middle.

If Pruitt or Smart is running the defense, the freshmen in the middle aren’t so glaringly obvious and we maybe can get off the field before you get a 13 play drive on you. I’ve been a Golding apologist up until tonight. No excuse for the shite we are seeing week after week out there. If it weren’t for Lewis and Jennings making plays regularly, good Grief, how bad would it be?

Outside of Davis the DL rotation isn't too experienced either.

If their starting QB hadn't gotten hurt, we might be looking at an L right now. We were not stopping them until Guarantano came in the game, and then they were still driving up and down the field on us

I have to admit, I was expecting two stud underclassmen ILBs to hold their own, and get better with each game. Not only do we not have stud athletes at ILB, but they don't seem to be getting better either.
Also, we need Barmore out there on more than just third downs

The amount of times that the defense is looking around around lost shrugging with their hands flipped upside down is unnerving.

Maybe I am used to seeing our past d's and all but it just seems they are not prepared.

Tennessee had 231 yards of offense tonight. It was their worst production of the entire season.

But yeah, the defense was terrible.

First of all, we played them with their backup QB who is complete trash.
Secondly, if you wanna bring up stats, our defense was just edging out Tennessee for 7th place in the SEC entering tonight, and that's with a weak schedule.

I’m down for putting in the best athletes controlled by a few upperclassmen and just let fly around. Barimore probably doesn’t know what he’s doing half the time but he breaks through OL like a stick damn almost every play. Lewis and Jennings have turned out to be solid as a rock and XM15 and Diggs seem to be holding solid. I’ll give Mayden credit he looked better tonight. Other than that our middle is soft and our ILB’s are lost like hidden treasure lost.

The Tennessee QBs also each missed on some wide open throws that could’ve been TDs or long gains.

We don't suck but we are the poster child for average this year.

ETA that I still believe that that this is a championship caliber team as long as Tua isn't gimped up when he comes back.
