his defense is not good by Alabama standards
Well, that's a different argument and one I agree with. It's still a good defense, and if those young guys up front progress and learn, there is potential for it to be really good. But my bet is we see a lot of what happened Saturday most of the season.

had a true freshman light up our star studded secondary for 300+
I haven't looked at the numbers, but I'd be willing to bet a lot of those yards went to guys being covered by our inexperienced linebackers. They threw a ton of quick outs to the TE, and a lot of dump offs to guys in the flats. I don't recall many plays where receivers were running wide open in our secondary. Our secondary had a bad day tackling, but I thought they did well in coverage. Most throws were pretty well defended and required really good throws from the QB, and he delivered.

Yep, you can have an NFL secondary but if the QB can stand back there long enough, somebody will get open. Our front 7 is currently held together with chicken wire and flour paste. They've got to improve and fast. If not, we're going to continue to struggle on D. We can't stop the run and we can't rush the passer very well at this moment. That won't take us very far. Saban has his work cut out for him.

Won’t take us very far? This team will still go 12-0 even if the defense doesn’t improve much. This offense is unstoppable with a healthy Tua.

Justin Eboigbe if he is healthy. Probably see Barmore too.

Not until the second half on Saturday.

I only keep up with Alabama these days. Do other SEC programs typically have this kind of bad luck with season ending injuries? More than a random year I mean, because it seems like this is at least the 3rd straight year UA has had more than 2 out for the year.

I read where Kendall Randolph was moved to DL and is wearing #85 now. It's gotten to that point.
Surprised he isn't in the portal hoping for a prayer.

Saban on LaBryan Ray injury: “Probably out for this game. We are doing some testing and it’s undetermined how long he’s out after that.”

Comes and goes.
We actually had a decently long streak of very few injuries. Seems like we are having all those injury loans called in.

I got a ton of downvotes for being optimistic, so I wouldn't read much into it.

LaBryan Ray out with injury for 'undetermined' amount of time (BamaOnLine)
Latest injury could make Alabama's defensive front even younger (BamaOnLine)

LaBryan Ray will miss at least one game with a foot injury. “From an injury standpoint, LaBryan Ray is probably out for sure for this game (against Southern Miss),” Alabama head coach Nick Saban said in a press conference. “We’re doing some further testing to see what the situation is with his foot, but it’s undetermined right now as to how long he may be out.” (more)

Hopefully nothing serious is wrong with the young man.

Much like the tightrope procedure done on Tua and Jalen that lessened the recovery time for high ankle sprain, there's probably a similar outlet that can be persued here that will allow Ray to come back. Otherwise Saban wouldn't have said that.
There's a month before a meaningful game and then another month before LSU.

Thanks to everyone that reached out and for the prayers! Surgery went well and I promise you I will only get stronger from this. God got me

Same ankle Injury he had in fall camp

I really wish they would just tell us what the injury is. I know HIPPA and junk but I doubt most players really care if the fans know if it was an ankle surgery or a fractured foot bone, etc.

Regarding whether injuries are caused by specific faults or just luck...
...3 SEC East teams lost their starting QBs to injury by week 3. That is 43% of the division.
