Bummer. Must be some running backs showing out if a kid that looked as good as him last season doesn't think he'll get to contribute.
EDIT: May have confused this kid with Jase McClellan's Arkansas TD. Still, sucks to lose a veteran player.

His production last year will definitely be difficult to replace...

Makes sense, but Robinson looked like one of our better backs.
Oh well, I'm sure this kid will go ball out somewhere else. I just hope it's not another Alvin Kamara situation

I see what you are saying, but if it is "another Alvin Kamara situation" then that will mean that the RBs that are still on our roster will be really, really good.

Yeah if Keilan is the next Kamara, that means we are sitting on the next Derrick Henry .

Best of luck to him. I have no doubt he will catch on and contribute somewhere. Hope he balls out.

Was really looking forward to seeing him on the field. Great combination of speed and size. Not being with the team last year may have hurt his chemistry with the team. Hope he stays.

Just about everybody that starts at Alabama will be drafted to the NFL, so they're all really good.
The question at Alabama is are we starting a future 2-3 rounder over a future top 10 pick.
Letting Alvin Kamara go was a mistake - simple as that. He was a special guy.
It seems like almost all of our great players recently have stated in interviews that they thought about transferring out. Just saying... Depth charts are tough to manage. You've got player's egos at stake, leadership to consider, and then great players that will leave with the new transfer rules if they're not given what they think they deserve.

Alvin Kamara was in doghouse at Alabama. he kept getting in trouble.

What a Great problem!
I'm guessing that Coach Saban will be able to live with this "problem". Truth be told, we'll probably need some transfers to take place to be able to accept the players that we need who want to transfer to Tuscaloosa!

He and Tyren Jones were in the doghouse 3 weeks after they arrived. Got to remove those blinking lights before they ruin the rest of the string.

I wonder if there was any friction fitting back into a lead role or competing for one after opting out. I could see some thinking he didn't go through 2020 and one of the GOAT (certainly most unique) seasons "with" the team.
Plus, he missed a lot of reps and practices when his near peer talent was getting better. Easily, just could have been past up as well.

IIRC during fall camp Kamara was looking to be the 3rd option behind Yeldon and Drake while looking better then Henry and the other 2 that came in that class with the. He got hurt in preseason camp and had knee surgery which red shirted him. After that is when the issues happened.

Yeah, I mean shite happens. It's still crazy that we had one of the best backs of the past 20 years on our roster, and he just fell through the cracks and ended up at another school.
To say nothing of Josh Jacobs, who never started a game at Alabama.
I'm just saying... the staff has certainly made depth chart errors in the past. Let's just hope letting Robinson go doesn't end up looking really stupid.

I agree but it brings to reality the recruiting at such a high level when so many alphas end up on the same campus.
This article had some interesting quotes from Kamara and liked how he owned up to why things went the way they did at UA.
Shows you what goes through a HS recruits mind and then reality sets in.

This article had some interesting quotes from Kamara and liked how he owned up to why things went the way they did at UA.
quote:
“I’m not even talking about football-wise. I learned a lot about myself, and I learned a lot about how to interact with other people, and I learned a lot about how to deal with certain situations. I just learned a lot about life.
quote:
Kamara said he found while he had been “a pit bull around chihuahuas in high school, and now it’s all pit bulls, and some of the pit bulls is bigger than me, so like I’m still barking, but I’m like, ‘OK, I got to bark a little bit louder or I got to do a little bit more.’ And then I ended up getting injured during camp and kind of really didn’t know how to deal with that. My mind was immature, and I did a lot of immature things
quote:
“I take full responsibility. It was immaturity. It wasn’t nothing about coach (Nick) Saban not liking me, (running-backs) coach (Burton) Burns not liking me. It was completely my fault.”
quote:
Kamara said he chose to go to Alabama in 2013 because he wanted “to be the best version of me, so I’m going to go where the best is.” “I was like, ‘Dude, I’m about to go and I’m about show why I’m the best running back,’” Kamara said. “At the time, I’m 17 years old. I’m coming off the state championship. I’m balling. I’m like, ‘Man, I’m about to go and bust this open,’ not thinking there’s seven of us in this room, it’s one football, it’s 10 games. What we going to do, you know?
quote:
“So we get there, and it’s me, Tyren Jones, Altee Tenpenny – rest in peace to him, that’s my brother – and Derrick Henry, all in the same class, not to mention T.J. Yeldon, Kenyan Drake, Jalston Fowler and Dee Hart that’s already there. So we get in the room for the first running-backs meeting and coach Burton Burns – I love him to death even though he was on my arse every day at Bama – we looking around and me and Altee like, ‘Man we stupid as hell. What are we doing?’ … “We thought it was cool, and now we’re here and we’re realizing like, ‘OK, one, two, three, four, and nobody’s a slouch in there.’”

Nice candid thoughts from Alvin. A lot of people can't get over themselves and have such introspection.

As far as I know nobody let Robinson go
Pretty sure he left on his own accord

Kinda wish we still had him and Brian made a move. I know it's nice to have a vet and someone that's been there but this is the least exciting starter at RB we've had in a while, for me personally at least.

Robinson was a beast last year. He turned a corner from being just a bruiser, and was quick, fast, and explosive in 2020 to go along with his brute physicality. Also, him putting in the hard work and patience for 4 years to get this opportunity and him being a hometowm kid is cool to see. I believe that he made a statement in the second half of the NC game, and he is ready to roll.
I am personally excited to see him tote the rock.
