They say he can bench 600 lbs....whats the deal woth only 30 reps? I guess maybe longer arms? Tiny might rbs did more than 30.....i read where someone said his agent told him to do 30 and stop. I didnt see the video....was it 30 easy and then just stopped.... or did he struggle with the last 3-4? Just trying to wrap my brains around this

Well total max on a bench press and reps of lighter weight are different. Your max has more to do with strength, whereas your number of reps at a lower weight has more to do with arm durability with a touch of strength.

30 is as high as the NFL reps could count.

Maybe the numbers that are floated around aren't correct. Cochran makes monsters, but maybe the numbers tend to be inflated and exaggerated?

This and it also wouldn't surprise me if he just quit early. BTW "tiny" guys are generally much better at bench press, especially if they have short arms. They are working through a much smaller range of motion and moving the bar a far less distance.

Cochran doesn't make Combine freaks, he makes national champions.

Dwight Galt makes Combine freaks, he doesn't make national champions.

The 225lb bench test is mainly a test of stamina. He may be able to lift 600lbs once without needing much stamina for one burst. Having said that 30 reps is a decent score. He may have been saving his stamina for another workout, or just didn't want to push it too hard.

Bro do you even lift?

As stated, there is a difference between reps and max. The max you can lift is defined as the max you can lift at least one rep in perfect form.

30 reps of 225 is insanely high. Hell, go try 30 reps of 135 and see how you do.

I doubt that Jesse can do a clean rep of 600 on the bench press. I know a few DLineman and LBers that played in the league and I'm good friends with a Patriots Scout and I only know of one guy that has played in the league that was a legit 600 pound bench press guy....and that was Larry Allen.

Keep in mind there are a lot of guys in the league on PEDs. 600 pound bench is insane weight.

I used to compete in powerlifting and have seen several guys do mid to high 500s......but I don't recall ever seeing a successful lift at 600+ pounds at even the top level meets.

****I'm speaking of a "Raw" bench as in wearing a t-shirt or wrestling singlet. Assisted Bench allows use of a bench press shirt that allows for significantly more weight to be lifted. ****

And when compared to the other players at his possition and there bench it puts him in the middle of the pack.....soooooooo.....I wasnt impressed. Can I do it heck no! But I can beat Tyanns bench of 225 ...4 times....TE HE!
