We know Mayfield or Media loved qb like Darnold will this, but surprising he is considered in the top 11.

For the second year in a row, Jalen Hurts has been named a 2017 Manning Award finalist. Hurts is one of 11 players in contention for the honor, which has been presented annually to the nation's top quarterback since 2004. This season, Hurts has completed 135 of 223 passes for 1,940 yards and 15 touchdowns. The sophomore is also Alabama's second-leading rusher, having gained 768 yards and eight touchdowns on 137 carries. In 644 snaps, Hurts has committed two turnovers. The other finalists for the award are J.T. Barrett of Ohio State, Clemson's Kelly Bryant, USC's Sam Darnold, Louisville's Lamar Jackson, Oklahoma's Baker Mayfield, Penn State's Trace McSorley, UCF's McKenzie Milton, Oklahoma State's Mason Rudolph, Auburn's Jarrett Stidham and Arizona's Khalil Tate.

Good QB on a good team that won 11 games. Look, nobody is saying Jalen isn’t good at what he does. It’s just what he does is limited to intangibles and running. Now if he gets nominated for the Davey O’Brian Golden Arm award, there’s something rotten in Denmark.

Happy for Jalen. I don't think a player with 60.8% completion percentage is award worthy, UNTIL you see 15 TDs to only 1 INT. Also brought his YPA up over the last few games so that number is pretty solid now. Then you throw in his rushing numbers. Good for Jalen, I think despite the completion percentage he showed improvement this season.

You guys seriously laughing at our QB for being nominated for an award?

First the offensive line and now Hurts? These award committees are trolling us.

If there is one thing that has come to light since Saturday, its that we have quite a few shitty fans on this board.

Sorry, I just think it's absurd and amusing that a mediocre to average quarterback is nominated for an award no one thinks he will win.
Something wrong with laughing at absurdity?

There are some that think Hurts is awful and always has been, but there are also some of us that have been Hurts fans and supporters but are now starting to think he may not be good enough to win the big, most difficult games.

No truer words have ever been spoken.

I think we all agree he has some issues, but there are those of us that are not going to crucify the kid. Coach wants to win as much as any of us do and he will put the people on the field that best help us do that. It's coaches job and legacy on the line and I believe that matters more to him than playing favoritism as some say he does. The ones that don't put jalen down are not anti-supporters of Tua. I think Tua will be great when coach believes he is ready. Jalen is a great representative of the university and goes out everyday and works to help us win and for that I'm a supporter.

Amen. To shite on him like some have is disgraceful behavior of grown adults. He's got more character in his pinky finger than any of these clowns

Anyone who thinks Tua should have started at any point this year is crazy. There is a reason no freshman QB has won a national title in a very long time.
I think Jalen is a great person and I hope he keeps getting better. All I’m saying is I haven’t seen a lot to make me think he will reach that level.

Pathetic bunch. They give up fast and jump back on the bandwagon faster.
