I expected a totally different game in Baton Rouge where State struggled and LSU won with a solid, but less than spectacular performance. Instead, KJ Costello broke a long standing SEC single game passing mark held by Eric Zeier of UGA fame from the 90’s with over 600 passing yards. I know LSU took a definite step back and they also greatly missed Chase who opted out and Stingley who missed the game due to a severe allergic reaction. But are the Bulldogs for real? Should they be a concern, especially with our secondary being out of place at times last night? Suddenly that game doesn’t appear as easy as I had imagined. Thoughts?

They may give us some trouble with our young secondary and 3rd and Golding.

But LSU's offense and defense is nowhere near as good as ours. LSU looked like a 4 or 5 loss team in a regular 12 game season

Yes. Leach is the most unorthodox coach in college football. Ppl thinks he’s goofy as hell and he can be, but you best not underestimate his IQ on the football field. Leach attacks ever inch of the field

Has a great sense of humor. He’d have a field day on the rant trolling ppl

His offense is incredibly powerful but produces inconsistent results.

Miss State will snag a few victories over teams they shouldn't beat and lose a bunch of games to teams they should handle.

I got them losing to Arkansas this week. It would be classic Leach.

If Pruitt were calling the D I wouldn't be concerned, but until Golding goes away I'm concerned about every team on the schedule. Sorry, but I thouhht he was a bad hire from day 1, and he's done absolutely nothing but confirm that IMO. The D has gotten softer and softer with him around.

Why CNS would bring a scrub DC in, and be so patient with him i don't really understand. Could have had his pick of DC around the country, and hired some no-name from a no-name program to come coordinate the saltiest defense of the past decade. No sir, I don't like it

I suspect Leach checks out the rant from time to time. Maybe even posts a bit.

MSU gifted LSU an early pick six TD and later pissed away a 10-point lead and momentum early in the 4th quarter in two minutes via a pick and a fumble in MSU territory that setup two short-field LSU TDs. LSU had quickly gained a 4-point lead and the momentum at that point and still couldn't beat MSU. Bottom line: It wasn't a flukish upset via MSU getting turnover TDs, lucky bounces, etc. Simply put, LSU was outcoached and outplayed (44-34). Tiger Rant meltdown

This right here. Plus he seems to play each game as it is the only that counts. So he will gamble all game and sometimes those chances pay off big.

No

Bama has beat a lot of teams with Heisman QBs who can sing it all over the field.

Bama struggles with spread teams and teams are fast on the edges that have qb who are mobile too.

For an air raid one dimensional team just sit 8 deep and keep them in front of you for those short routed. No yac.

They will get their yards but they will also throw ints and possibly give great field advantage. So it will mostly be a bend not break game.

Balanced teams kills us.

If Alabama can't keep seven quality DBs on the field for most of the game, hell yes they're a concern.

Orgeron was whistling past the graveyard all summer about attrition for various reasons. A lot was lost at the DB position and Stingley as a non-show was a backbreaker. And worse he took reps in practice, so they would have been scrambling Saturday morning. Throw in the DC, Pelini, who never seemed to understand the concept of bend but don't break.

LSU, in the first game of the season, got caught with their pants down and got a good spanking.

They will attempt to dink and dunk us down the field. We just have to keep everything in front of us, not give up the bombs.

On top of that control the game clock. Run our balanced offense, and keep the TOP on our side.

If they start to pick us on bigger plays we will be in a shootout which we have the horses for on O so either way.

I rewatched last night the first half of the UA vs Missouri game and even in the first half we were giving up key plays. I think they converted for 9 first downs. At one stretch 3 straight plays resulted in first downs.

And that's Missouri. So unless the defense gets better, yes, Mississippi State could be a problem.

I was there and thought "We're back baby!!!"

Fun Fact: I have the official coin that they used for the opening, mid-field coin toss. The actual one that got tossed.

No lead will be safe for either MSU or their opponents. They will be able to score a lot of points quickly, but Leach's inability to run out the clock will get him beat at some point, and it almost did Saturday. He had a 32 point lead halfway through the 3rd quarter last year against UCLA and lost.

I'm not overly concerned. I don't think we are going to be able to completely shut them down, but I don't think we will have much issue outlasting them in a shoot-out.

LSU's depleted offense put up 34 on them, and it's not Miss State was just humming along without mistakes. They turned the ball over 4 times. LSU just couldn't make them pay for it. We will.

I would expect a 56-35 type game.
