Is Saban's WR recruiting more impressive than his DB recruiting?

I was thinking about Saban's WR recruits from his time at Michigan State with Muhsin Muhammad, Plaxico, and Charles Rodgers up to the present and I think as good of a defensive coach Saban is with the defensive secondary being his specialty his WR recruiting might be the best of all time for any coach.

It certainly has been in recent years.

Five first-round picks speak for themselves.

It's a good point, and the answer is probably yes. Amazing.

Just upon doing some loose Google researching, I'm not sure of a coach even comes close as far as elite or very good NFL WRs(and that is assuming that Jeudy, Ruggs, Smith, Waddle, and whoever in the future will become NFL difference makers, even though that is obviously simply an assumption).

And then considering guys that were above average college WRs that didn't/haven't done much in the pros, such as Marquis Maze, Kevin Norwood, DeAndre White, Cam Sims, Ardarius Stewart, and whoever else I might be forgetting.

And let's remember that the two foundational guys...Julio and Amari...were recruited at a time when we didn't exactly have established gunslingers throwing the ball all over the field.

It's his eye for talent period. He is just better than everyone else at this honestly. Arguably his best college WR was a RB that he converted to WR at LSU. Dinardo recruited Reed to LSU. I think Saban was the one that moved him to WR.

I don't think so.

I think that the guys signed this year are very underrated. Jones-Bell, Holden and Baker are very good players. They're different type athletes than Ruggs and Jeudy but could easily see the field this year.

Stack up the first and second round picks for each.

It makes sense he would. He’s a DB coach by trade. He knows what kind of WRs are toughest to face.

This is why I never got into the "we need big WRs" line of thinking. I've read NFL DBs say their toughest matchups are smaller, speedy WRs.
