More generic piped-in music would certainly get me to empty my wallet.
It's been giving us a better atmosphere than the marching band was.
Good Lord...

On the bible, if we just had them record all of the songs and played it over the speaker, we'd accomplish (3) things:
(1) We'd get back an entire section of premier, lower level seating to sell
(2) Adding back the cost savings of not having a band, and adjusting for the revenue created by a full section of lower bowl seats, we'd literally have enough money to get Future, Maroon 5, or the Rolling Stones (just examples, no taste in music preference) for halftime shows, meaning,
(3) No more waste of time halftime marching band performances. The million dollar band is average at best. If I wanted to go to a game and see a good performance, I'd likely hit up an HBCU game instead.

Am I wrong? The band playing the same old songs from the 1950s did nothing to add to the crowd environment. "Go, Bama, Go" sure as hell wasn't a crowd pleaser. When they switched it up late in the season a few years ago, it added more to the atmosphere than the band ever did. Now it's gotten stale again and they have reverted back to using a lot of country and classic rock songs and the atmosphere has died back down.

Well under 1/4 of the crowd pays attention to the band's halftime show.

Why this obsession with stripping the college football game experience of everything that makes it college football? The NFL atmosphere by and large is canned, sterile and generic. Other than jersey colors, there's not much that differentiates watching the Carolina Panthers from the Minnesota Vikings in person. The same dozen piped in songs. The same bullshite jumbotron games.
People bitch about UA athletics squeezing the fan for every nickel yet y'all want to get rid of the band for revenue purposes?

I never said anything about that. I just said the band adds nothing to the atmosphere. If anything, I'd say the band often made it worse.

I don't even see how it's debatable that the band led to very little fan interaction.
On top of that, they would play after every single play. After every single play, they would play something that nobody was paying attention to.
The tune that would get the biggest response is the tune that people seem to bitch about the most! (Basket Case)

I think the lower tier games have hurt attendance. I am a season ticket holder and don’t go to half the games. I am not traveling 5 1/2 hours to watch them play LA Tech. Sorry - just not doing it.
I'm only 2 hr away and my first game his year will be UT and then LSU. That's it until I fork out thousands for the SECCG & the playoffs.

My season tickets are on the way. Anybody want them?

Half laughing, but if you said, “I’ll give them to you for free, only catch is, you have to go to a majority of the games,” looking at our schedule this year, I’d literally say “thanks but no thanks.”
