The scheduling has been this way for decades now. You will never see a P5 school go out of conference and schedule Nebraska, Missouri, USC, and Washington like Bama did in 1978.
I don’t expect us to play blue bloods every chance we get, but I’d just like to see some non conference games agains teams I’ve never seen Bama play before. My whole life it seems like we’ve been playing Southern Miss, La Tech, North Texas, and Western Carolina.
How cool would it be to have Navy on the schedule? Even teams like Rutgers or NC State would be more entertaining.

non profits have to be run for the good of the general public, not for the good of a person or a small group of people. An if a non profit has an unrelated business activity they pay tax on it. If you dont like how a non profit is being run, then dont support it.

Wow I can’t believe face value price for that 2001 UCLA game was only $35. That is sobering to me and I was at that game. The atmosphere was intense for that game and Fran’s debut. I think people would rather stay home and watch HD in their own environment. For comfort reasons rather than economic.

that UCLA game was miserably hot and humid. That's what I remember...and losing.

Yea it was hot and it was a tough loss but that was a desperate moment in Bama football history. There was cautious excitement about the Franchione era. That trick play pass and chute that almost worked at the end of the game. Rough times to be a Bama fan for sure.

UPDATE: Less than 3 weeks out before season starts and getting hammered by emails on tickets available for most home games.

Same. Dropped my tickets in June, and they called Friday to offer to waive my donation upgrade fee to move to a better spot. Only price difference would be the delta between the old seats and new.
Still, no thanks. Get rid of the cupcakes. Sell beer. Improve the food. Work with the city's hotels to limit price gouging on gameday weekends. It's not that hard, folks.

We've done a home and home with both, and I don't think either is really worth repeating, even though it's been well over 30 years for Rutgers. I'f we're going to pick up bottom tier P5, let's get some home and homes that we have never done. Kansas, Oregon State, Purdue, or Indiana, maybe.

I've got my four season tickets on StubHub for basically my cost, including donation, and no one is buying. And there are about 10 sets of four cheaper than mine.
That waiting list of 10,000, or whatever, may, in fact, be mythical. Many still on the list may not choose to buy if presented with the opportunity.

Between my son’s swim meets and practice taking up weekends and the cost of tickets plus travel it makes no sense for me to shell out that $$$$ for season tix when I can get him to and back from practice, hit up publix or chickfila and then enjoy a perfect view of the game from my couch on a big screen.
We might try to hit up the Duke game (tix for $50 each on stub hub right now) and make a nice ATL trip then hit up Tuscaloosa for a late season game off stub hub. I’d love to go to more but life plus a nice tv > 8 hours round trip drive every other weekend plus the cost. I aint broke but I aint wealthy either

I bet there's not 1,000 on that list that want season tickets. There wouldn't be so many available on StubHub at almost cost.

I hear ya. My daughter’s swimming finally broke me of the Tide Pride habit. The only thing I really miss about it is I had been in long enough and had accumulated enough points to get post season tickets. So me and my daughter got see the payback arse-whooping in the Dome over L8U and the beatdown in the Orange bowl of Notre Dame. The only unsatisfying thing about that game was 90% of the Irish fans there expected an arse beating so they weren’t very upset or surprised by the outcome.

Have they started implementing the policy of charging a fee to stay on the waitlist? I'll bet that cuts the list down 90%.

It has been for a few years now. It's why they implemented a small charge to stay on the waiting list. They were calling too many whose name came up that were no longer interested.
One problem that contributed to the inflated waiting list was the number of people that bought more tickets than they needed knowing they could sell the extras as a season ticket package and recoup a good portion, if not all, of their Tide Pride fees. I knew a handful of people that did this up until a few years ago when that market dried up.

Yes, we're very, very spoiled. We're also one of the final holdouts where we can usually sell out the stadium. If you look around college athletics, the ticket to the live event has become a rapidly depreciating asset. The experience is going to have to be reimagined and revamped to become a draw again or these huge stadia are going to be emptier and emptier. Some thinking outside the box and up to date cutting edge technology will be needed to rescue it.

More generic piped-in music would certainly get me to empty my wallet.
