Dude, let it go. Tua was the best move for us to win it all, you won't see anyone refute that.
People defend Jalen because he had a great year last year, is a good leader. People like him, his character, and really wanted him to succeed. There's nothing wrong with that. Tua will win the job in the spring pretty easily (I sure hope so), and you can come here and be high and mighty acting like there were 50 posters saying Jalen would win it back.

I have let it go. I have moved on. I think others need to let the Jalen era go.
It’s not even about Jalen. And don’t even care that most were not honest enough to admit how wrong they were. But people do need to get real and move on. It’s a new era.

I will admit that I didn't think that he'd have a worst half against UGA than he had against AU. I admit to being wrong about that. He looked shell shocked against UGA.
I knew Tua was good, and after the AU game, I eventually conceded to the fact that he would probably be our starter next season. I thought that there was a decent chance we'd see him in both the Clemson and UGA games, but I didn't expect Tua to ball out like he did. I don't think anyone on here can honestly say that they expected him to play THAT good in that context. If they did, then kudos to them. I'm definitely very glad that he did.
I won't apologize for defending Jalen against unwarranted attacks though.

Not the best example, but I remember Jalen Hurts being money in this past year’s MSU game. We lose it without him

Go troll on the SEC rant board. I’m not sure if you know about it, but it was made for people like you. You’ll frickin love it.

Tua didnt really play great, he does have a lot of potential though. We needed a good QB to win that game and Jalen is not that.

I still think Jalen was better his freshman year.. teams didn’t spy him as much and his legs carried us a few times. This year teams loaded the box and put a spy on him, it put it all on his arm which wasn’t his strength.
I think he lost his confidence some time during this season. I don't think that at the end of this year Jalen was capable of pulling off the comeback he did at Ole Miss as a freshman. Jalen is a hell of a competitor though, and I suspect he will work his arse off this offseason to correct whatever mental/confidence issues he was having towards the end of the year

No one is doubting that, but the issue is people using Tua's one half of meaningful football to make Hurts like he was some scrub and that any QB could have done his job the last 2 years
The formula is the formula for Saban. Play defense, run the ball and not have the QB make critical mistakes
Tua will take sacks, make bad reads and throw interception and when that happens, I want to see the same energy folks used to take down Hurts in their criticism of Tua

Yep what he just said. Let's see then if there's any consistency. I'd love for any of these people to go to the team's face and white on jalen like they do on a message board. Im proud of tua for standing up for him and understanding what's important.

If you really believe that you need to look at that entire game. He left the pocket early over and over. He took multiple sacks bc he didnt move up in the pocket. 3rd down conversion was atrocious. The Time of possession in the game was close to 40:20 in favor of state bc he couldnt stay in the pocket and make throws on 3rd down.
I like the guy and he seems like an excellent role model but he has not shown the ability to be an effective qb. .

The stat is meaningless because for about 20 of those 25 wins we were so vastly superior to the other team in terms of talent that we could have put almost anybody under center and they would have racked up those wins.

He wasn't bad in every single game, that is just disingenuous.
I like Hurts personally but let's face it, he played consistently terrible against any team that was remotely good on defense.
All the stats he put up against teams like Vanderbilt and Tennessee mean nothing.

I never said differently - was just responding to a comment.

He was good against LSU this year. We also haven't played many teams with a good defense.

No, a lot of games we would definitely have lost had he not been the QB.
LSU and USC last year for sure.

It is meaningful, but overrated as it relates to Alabama. We win that many games with QB's who won't sniff the NFL every year. Saban makes it a mission to win it all with bad kickers and weak QB play. We provide Jalen with the best defense in the country and a strong running game. In the case of 2016 we scored on defense enough to win a lot of games.

quote:Any Alabama fan that doesn't respect the HELL out of Hurt for the way he handled the situation is an idiot! The guy showed me more about himself as a person and leader on Monday night than anyone has the right to expect out of a player! Alabama is DAMN fortunate to have two QBs with the integrity and class that our 2 guys have!
Record is def a team thing. Jalen helped win a few of our games that we may not have and before Tua was on campus.
Personally I think since Tua won the game people think it's open season on Jalen to bash him. Kid gave everything he had and supported Tua when he was benched. Never made a fuss about it. I respect Jalen more now than I did when he was the guy.
