Hadn't seen much posted on here about Fields' so I went searching.

Ohio State head coach Ryan Day on QB Justin Fields: "I definitely expect him to play, but we don't get into specifics on injuries."

VIDEO
Interesting take on Fields' hit and possible injuries. I hope JF is 100% as I want there to be no doubt that Bama beat the best tOSU team possible.

I also saw that tOSU is supposedly getting back 2 of their starters, a Guard (Miller I think) and a Defensive End (?) for the NCG, anyone else?

Will Smitty be 100%? Will Christian Harris be 100%? Will Malachi Moore be 100%?

Any other injuries to be worried about for us other than LD? Saw that Waddle is practicing which is huge.

ETA: derped on Christian Harris. Thanks SoG!
ETAII: Added Malachi Moore

What's weird about Fields is that I think he was supposed to speak after Day's conference but they canceled his media availability.

What does it meeeeean?

Dude is clearly hurting, but I'm guessing whatever it is is not something that will injure him and so they just don't want to give anybody any idea what the extent of it is or have him wince in any pain.

The whole virtual nature of media stuff compared to the normal Super Bowl eqsue nature of the CFP Title Game Media Stuff is probably a big sigh of relief to them.

His best case is he is very sore and tender. Taking another shot might be the end of his night. Depends what his injury is.

Hahahaha I realized like 5 minutes later that you probably meant Christian Harris, but it seemed like a super good one with Christian Miller since we always ended up asking about him and his injuries at this time too

Bruised ribs are an absolute motherfricker. The pain doesn't really kick in hard until that next day, which explains how he was able to finish (don't get me wrong, it still takes a ton of toughness to do this).

I expect them to tweak their game plan. Rely on the run early and stick to it often if it's working. Get the ball out quick, and max protect play action when they want to take shots. Christian Barmore falling on top of him will end his night if it happens.

Yea it seemed like everyone who discussed it said that (a) He's tough as shite and (b) He's going to be unable to move in the morning.

Who knows if any of these dudes on elevenwarriors.com have any real insider knowledge, but I just saw this in the comments on an article about Fields:

LINK

ETA: FWIW, after going through his comments a bit, it appears he references this same friend who had info about an OL being out for Michigan State and about Olave being out against NW.

I'm still crossing my fingers hard on our whole "going home for Christmas" deal.

Missed that one, thanks. Is there a set date that the NCAA has to do so before in order to postpone the NCG due to COVID? Or can they postpone it right up until gametime?

If the NCG was delayed a week or two b/c of COVID, would that be enough time for his ribs to heal fully if only bruised?

Id show sympathy towards Ohio State for missing a few players due to Covid but nobody has benefitted more from the virus than them

But the Rant? They will do a 180 and go full "Poor Ohio State" just because OSU misses their 3rd string runningback and backup punter

I don’t understand when people say “they want the other team at full strength” “no excuses”. Does that make the W smaller? Do we only get half a trophy?

I don’t care what our rivals, the media, whoever say about us beating a backup. It’ll still say 2020 National Champions. I hope the second string QB plays the whole game and we win by 40.

Not trying to hijack your thread Noletide, it’s just on my mind.

A week or two delay almost guarantees a 90% Waddle

Sure did hurt losing him to start the season but Boz said he would be back for the playoffs.

Same. I don’t want anyone to suffer a long term injury but I hope half the opposition tweaks a hamstring running out the tunnel.

what are the protocols for delaying the CG for covid players? isn't it the same as playing during the year? must have x number of scholarship players available? From the numbers being mentioned it like they may miss 4 - 6 guys and that seems to be way into the safety number?
But could see the B1g wanting to delay so JF would be full speed... protect their investment in getting to the CFP
