Mac is a perfectly good QB. Only thing is, is he good enough to lead us to score 50?
In case you haven't noticed we need about 50 points to have a chance in the big games the past few years.

He's certainly much better than many people give him credit for.

If he is better he will get the chance to show it against Awbarn. We might have to score 40 to beat them. He certainly didn't show much against MissState. 3 points in a half is pretty poor.

He is decent with pretty good decision making and good grasp of the offense. We could be much worse off but it will be up to our wrs to make the plays

Not really it's up to him to get them the ball. They will always make the plays.
When you miss bubble screens and throws in th flats it's on the QB.
Hoping for the best against the Barn but not too optimistic, their defense is playing very well.

We were saying the same shite after his "poor" performance in the Tennessee game after Tua went down in the second quarter. He then led the offense the very next week to 41 points in the first half against a hapless Arkansas team. The dude can run the offense when given a week of first team reps. Tua going down with a hip injury also could have had a serious psychological effect on the offense.
No one is saying he is half the QB Tua is, but the kid can run the offense effectively and has proven it.

You are confident with Mac being able to score 30+ at Jordan-Hare against the best defense we’ve played all year?
Because it’s very likely with our D we will need 30+ to win.
He’s going to be pressured unlike anything we’ve seen all year while being asked to make plays downfield to open up the run game because their interior DL is going to give us fits.
Mac Jones would be fine playing QB for us in 2011, he is a major concern at QB in 2019 because our defense will likely be the worst we’ve put on the field since 2006 if Raekwon and DJ are out and unable to keep our young ILBs clean.
Our only chance to win is to get the ball in the hands of our incredibly talented WRs and if he’s average to subpar we will lose in two weeks.

That is what I am saying ,he will have every chance to prove it against Awbarn.
He proved he can run the offense against a terrible team at home.
Now he will have to do the same against an elite defense on the road.
Let's see what's he got. He cannot have a better supporting cast to help him.

No, we won't need 30+ points to win. Auburn's offense is not that good. It's going to be a low scoring game and I believe our defense will rise to the challenge to meet Bo Nix.

Mac is no better then Fromm and UGA only scored 21 points on AU. AU held UGA one time to 9 3 and outs. Our D is probably not going to hold AU to 14 points. We gotta hope our ST's and our D takes one of the house. Winning down there would be huge. At this point I don't care if we make the final 4. Finishing 11-1 and going to a new years day bowl would thrill me to no end

What about our defense without Dale or Davis makes you confident we can hold them to three scores?
You are a looking at a starting front of:
DL: Eboigbe / Barmore / Young / Mathis
LB: Hall / Harris / Lee / Jennings
Two years from now they will be monsters, but right now that’s the worst front of the Saban era.
If you want to argue Nix sucks I agree, but I don’t think it matters as much because they are going to grind us with the inside run / speed sweep game.
The question then becomes whether we can avoid getting mashed with the two young ILBs not even being given a chance to stay clean if Auburns interior blockers are consistently winning the battles with our thin and young interior line.
There is also the question of whether we can establish the corner consistently against their fast receivers on sweeps.
I think we need 30 to win, just like I thought we needed to hit the mid 40s to beat LSU.

A few things to add:
Sark will have to develop the offense around Mac now that he is the guy. They are likely meeting as we speak. Mac needs all the reps he can get. I think when he is installed with a game plan that is built for him, he does quite well.
Auburn will test his resolve by going after him a lot. We need to be ready for that.
Our defense will struggle with Auburn especially with all of the hurry up and speed work.

I have said that we can win with Mac multiple times but if I'm being completely honest I think I am just trying to convince myself and sort of speak it into existence. He doesn't have a strong arm, he isn't gonna run for many first downs, his release isn't quite quick enough and he doesn't really hit receivers in stride. The coaches call a very scaled back, vanilla offense with short passes and lots of ground and pound.
With that said, if any corp of receivers can make a quarterback look better than he is it is our guys. I won't go into any game moving forward expecting to lose. I will give Mac the opportunity to show me what he's made of before I say he can't get it done. Najee may be our most important weapon now that the gameplan has changed. Najee looks like a receiver when passes go his way catching the ball and is a beast in space. Najee is going to be Mac's guy imo.
I promise that our guys as well as coach Saban still think this team can accomplish its biggest goal.
