If we don’t make the playoff with a Wisconsin loss, the Playoff Committee is a sham.

Conference championships are overrated as hell and there’s no way that winning one should excuse two losses, with one being a 31 point loss to Iowa. I don’t know how well we will fare if we make the playoffs, but there is no way in hell Ohio State deserves it.

We don't deserve it either. Blame the SEC and Florida State for sucking. I'd put UCF in over us and Ohio State.

Even if we do make it, we would draw OU or Clemson first game. Either one of those probably beats us handily.

We are a broken fan base. Both of those teams have horrible losses but they still think they are deserving.

Why do we deserve to go? We have zero good wins. Our best win lost to Troy.
Honestly the BCS system would work better for this season if Wisconsin loses. Clemson and OU would be the only deserving teams.

And that's our only win against a Power 5 team with fewer than 4 losses. Bama will go. But our résumé is pathetic. It's not that we lost - everyone but UCF and Wisconsin have. It's that other teams actually have some quality wins.
The people saying otherwise are the same ones who said Jalen for Heisman before Saturday.

We don't deserve to make the playoff with a loss to this Auburn team.

Clemson had a bad loss last year and they still beat the best defense in college football history.
You can lose a game, you just have to lose to a nobody. Bama has gone 7-1 in the SEC 6 of the last 7 years. Yet has only won the West 3 of those years.
One good thing about Dabo, he will have his players fired up and ready to play In a big game.
Saban tends to have his players play tight in those games.

Ok, so you don't think we deserve, we get it.
However, it is a very real possibility. Are you going to be upset if we get in? I'm just trying to understand this defeatist attitude when there is probably a 50 percent chance we get in.
And the fact that people are acting like we are chopped liver because we played our worst game in years against a top 5 AU team at JHS is mind blowing to me, especially considering all of the eggs that almost everyone in the top 5 has laid this year against much lesser competition.

You all overlook that the committee has never picked two teams from the same conference.
And they never will.
That controversy is what started the playoff system. No one Conference gets two spots. Book it.

I don't think anyone is overlooking this.

Oh. Didn't realize that you are on the committee. Apologies.

Absolutely does not mean that two teams from the same conference can't get in.

The assumption is that Ohio State getting in last year opens the way for us.
But they were there only Conference representative, so it’s totally different

It’s about money. They want the money spread around. That’s what pissed them off about 2011.
Now maybe the TCU scenario gets us in, because the big 12 has much less clout than the big 10. But the big 10 gets a rep. I’m sure it’s secretly written into the playoff guidelines

I fully expect Bama to be in - I said "Bama will go" in the first post. I won't be upset either way. It's not being defeatist. It's looking at our schedule and seeing that we played poorly against the mediocre teams we played and lost to the only good team we played. Then you compare that with Clemson or Oklahoma, who have beaten Top 10 teams convincingly on the road. You're looking at it and seeing "They lost to Iowa State!" and not seeing that Iowa State would almost certainly beat 9 of the teams on our schedule.
It's not just about the loss to Auburn either. I saw that coming for two weeks. Although the fact that it was an arse kicking undergirding systemic issues that can hardly be addressed in a month doesn't help.
When has this team looked impressive against anyone with a pulse? Florida State handed us the game. The worst LSU team in years gave us a game. We stole one against an average Mississippi State squad that outplayed us for over 3 quarters. No one else on this schedule is adequate.
Also, I'm looking at a team like Clemson. They can stretch the field and they're elite along the defensive line. We haven't shown an ability to deal with either of those things. Oklahoma is the best offense we will have faced in years. I have no reason to believe we could keep up when it becomes a shootout. I don't really see where we overtake Auburn in a rematch. That game wasn't a fluke, as it has been in some years past.

Clemson and Auburn are about the same team. Bama would struggle with either again unless they get shite fixed on offense.
I could see Bama scoring 40 or 50 against OU, maybe it would be enough,

don't forget, jim Delaney the big ten commissioner is the whole reason we have a selection committee. the sc knows exactly what their job is. to make sure a big ten team is in the playoffs. even if tosu beats wisky, I don't expect bama to get in. tosu will be in with 2 bad losses over a 1 loss bama. personally, I expect those big ten refs to make sure wisky gets in undefeated.
as bad as it was at auburn, the truth is, halfway thru the 4th qtr bama still had a chance to win. so i'm not so quick to say bama doesn't deserve to be in the playoffs. with a month to heal up and maybe just maybe the light clicking on for the staff, you just never know what could happen.

I gotcha, I respect your opinion. At the end of the day, we have the best coach in cfb history, and if he is given a month to prepare for these teams, then our chances aren't near as bad as some of y'all think, IMO.

When I personally say, I don't think we deserve to be in I'm solely talking about our resume. I think we could be competitive in the playoff, and I don't think we'd get drubbed like OSU last year.
Our resume however is awful. 5 of our 6 division opponents lost an OOC game. Miss State is the only one that didn't, and that's because they play no one decent OOC.
Our two East opponents combined for zero conference wins if you exclude their game against each other. Finally for good measure, our preseason #3 OOC opponent Florida State went and had an abysmal year.
