what happen with ohio st.? Michigan isnt playing this weekend, and lots of rumors that they are done. Maybe Herbstreet shouldnt have back tracked. Will that league will do like the ACC and just declare Ohio St in their championship game.

I mean they should honestly. Everybody is making it up as they go this year anyway, perhaps none more so than the Big Ten who put themselves in this position. Personally I’d put my national title contender in my conference championship, not a team that lost to that title contender.

The Big Ten will have Ohio St play another Big Ten team.

If they get eliminated from Conference Championship contention due to the minimum games rule, they should try like hell to get an Out of Conference exemption and schedule BYU in place of the Michigan. That way they’d be 7-0 with wins over Indiana, BYU, and Wisconsin. That should be enough to at least be considered

Personally hope they get in because they are likely a Top-4 team

Unlikely. Both Northwestern and Indiana have the required number of games to play the in the B1G Championship game. Maybe because of Penix's injury they might force IU out the game but I doubt it. I have heard floated of possibly scheduling Ohio State to play Wisconsin championship weekend which would give them a stronger strength of schedule. I guess in theory you could reschedule Michigan for that as well. This is all speculation of course.

The playoff committee would without hesitation pick a 6-0 Ohio State over a 7-1 B1G champion Northwestern but it would still be funny having them explain it.

Ohio State hasn't played Wisconsin.

Eh... They are a Big 10 team. And we all hate the big 10. Come over here and let me smack ya around.

This is set in stone. The B1G is basically doing an East-West challenge that weekend

i'm not sure tosu wants to play byu. tosu had to hang on to beat iu, byu is better than iu. i for one am not sold on tosu being all that, like so many are.

I know the ACC is doing that, you have a link for the B1G? I haven't seen a confirmation anywhere.

Yep you are right. Although depending on how things play out Ohio State could also get Iowa but they are guaranteed to get the matchup that helps them most.

Yea I mean they could end up playing a higher ranked team by not playing in the conference championship. No chance the committee punishes them for not winning a conference based on the circumstances. Still think OSU ends up in the Big10 title game though.

The committee is going to bend over backwards to let Ohio State in, but there is a breaking point.

If they're sitting there at 6-0 or some shite, they simply haven't played enough games to qualify, quality of their team be damned at that point. At that point Ohio State should be angry at their conference, not the committee.

Not only that but they would have an advantage going into the playoff. OSU would be fresher than probably any other team in the playoff. I complain about the powderpuff schedule helping Clemson every year and it’s no different than if OSU got in with 6 wins.

The B10 shouldn't be allowed to get a team in regardless. They didn't start their season early enough.

BYU just turned down an opportunity to play Washington. And the playoff poll is destroying their SOS and any chance they now have to make a playoff run. Crazy stuff.

It's kinda like watching BYU drowning and going down for the 3rd time in the middle of the lake and someone swims out to save you and you tell them to get lost.

They are 100% a top 4 team. That should not be in question.

The only issue I would have with them in over another team is the advantages offered from their late start and minimal game schedule.

Big difference in wear and tear and how the accumulation of injuries affect a team over 10-11 games of an all P5 schedule vs 5-6 games. Especially when the B1G isn't playing great football overall as it is.

UW/PAc12 wanted a game in Seattle, no money share with BYU and no guarantee that the game wouldn't be cancelled and substituted last minute for a makeup PAC 12 game.

ByU had been burned by the PAC with ASU and Utah this year. And, the Ath Dept is running a $20 million shortfall; signing up for road games that generate no additional profit with no guarantee the game will play even if CV19 protocols are met is not truly turning down a lifeline. It was good business.

Byu countered with hosting UW, sharing game/TV money, contingent on additional guarantee of the game playing if no CV19 issues, and UW declined.

Someone is not thinking big picture. Washington and Pac 12 had all the leverage. No way BYU gets a pass with that Mountain West schedule. They needed a big power 5 game as badly as Ohio State needs that 6th game. If they have to beg, borrow, or steal to get that game you do it. What would a playoff run do for that football program nationally?

That made as much sense as UCF trying to play hardball with Alabama on a home and home series when you were offered a neutral site game. At the end of the day, you are still UCF or BYU. Who needs who?
