I’d be fine with a NY6 bowl victory and momentum for next year.

Of course I’d rather be in the playoff and there’s still a chance we will be, but I’m telling y’all a Sugar Bowl victory would still be great. It’d be a much better ending than last year and if you can’t be a fan when we’re pushing for a NY6 bowl then get the hell out. I understand being frustrated, I am too, but too many people seem ready to jump ship.

The issue is that, short of us somehow winning the championship, not many fans are going to feel like there's momentum heading into next year unless it seems like we're doing something to address the issues everyone's pointing out.

Hopefully it’s not the Sugar Bowl or we are doomed before we get there. Meaningless Sugar Bowl = loss.

Thats where I’ve settled today and im in total agreement. Hope we have a shot at the playoffs, though the odds are long.

But playoffs or no, hope the team doesn’t quit and finishes the year strong. A 12-1 season with a Sugar Bowl win and an Iron Bowl victory would be a great year.

if we get the sugar bowl, how many players that are going pro leave the team to prepare for the draft? Since there is a lot of 1st round talent and no playoff chances, I could see some going that route, and I would blame them one bit either.

Hopefully none. Thankfully Bama hasnt really had to deal with that.

If we can, sure.

I'm worried about this weird habit of shitting the bed in the bowl game like we did with OU and Utah. A loss to Auburn could send this thing into a tail spin for the bowl game.

We do have a shot. And whatever happens this year I’m excited to see the new team next year. There’s so much this team should have done. But we will have more experience on defense and almost a brand new offense. I just want to hold on to Bryce Young.

I could definitely take a 13-1 season, a Top 5 ranking, and a solid recruiting class. We do all of that, as well as hold onto Bryce Young, I will be INSANELY happy.

Hopefully all the first and 2nd Rd talent doesn't play in a meaningless game. I know this isn't going to bode well on this board, but I think of these kids as my own. What happened to Jaylen Smith cannot and should not happen to anyone else.

Spare me the logic that injuries could happen anytime. These kids made it without injury, why risk it right before their hard work pays off.

We'd be starting over at QB next year. That's the main concern for me

Our history with bowls in this situation hasn't been good. Utah 2008, Oklahoma 2013.

Good for you bro. I hope I am ok with it too but I am extremely spoiled and pretty damn selfish as well so we'll just have to see. I certainly won't rail on the team or staff if it happens because outside of being spoiled I remember the dark ages and I was a student when Mike Dubose was coach. Gonna try to keep optimistic moving forward. Let's see what the playoff committee thinks about us after the loss.

Bama isn't winning the NC next year. Bama is going to lose a massive amount of talent on offense after the season.

This was the last year for a few years Bama was going to contend. Damn injuries might have cost Bama their shot this year. Have already cost them the SEC Title.

We might not win another national title guys. It's really damn hard.

We can still put teams on the field that compete for it, though. But other programs have made good decisions and are really good now too, and our years of dominating the sport are over. But we are still one of the programs in it every year.

The reality is, you take away the playoff carrot, these kids have nothing left to play for. They get a nice trip for the holidays and a bowl package of goodies worth about $400. Not much motivation when you were a playoff favorite. And on the other side, you will have some hungry program looking to make a name for themselves. Maybe Baylor or hell, maybe even Boise State. They will play balls out while our boys will be partying and going through the motions. Which usually leads to an embarrassing ambush. No other way to spin it. They don't play for pride anymore, they play for hardware and nothing else.

If you go back to fall camp when players started dropping with injuries, the general view was that this was not a championship team. There were too many pups to handle the difficulties coming in the final 3rd of the season and the play-offs.

Coach Bryant contended that for every freshman that started, you would likely lose one game.

The multiples presented by the Saban defense create havoc for the teams we play. In order to manage those multiples on the field you need a QB for the front 7 and a QB for the back end that KNOW the defense and can adjust on the fly while keeping everyone in their group working together.

None of that has changed. We have a good back end QB. We do not have a front seven QB mostly because the guys who should be doing it are watching from the sideline or are pups that are not ready to run the show on the fly.

If the front end is not hitting on all cylinders, it has a huge ripple effect on what the back end is doing. If one person does not do his job in a high level assignment defense, it creates a hole an a chance for a good team to make a good or great play.

The Alabama defense was undressed by a damn good QB and his damn good OC/co-OC.

The defense / system is Saban's. Golding is attempting to coordinate it. But it is still Saban's defense. Golding made a number of attempts and adjustments before and during the game to cover the holes he knew were there. At times the attempts worked and at other times they did not. Moving a rush end/OLB to the inside to help cover a hole is at best a band aid. The problem was not healed but the attempt was made to cover the flaws.

Getting pissed and playing the blame game does not do anyone any good. We are a youth flawed team. LSU ripped the band aid off and beat on the flaws.

Even with everything bad that happened, we still had a chance in the last 15 minutes to win. We came up short. Time to move on, fix what you can. Improve where you can. Play to win every game left on the schedule and hope for the best. The is still a chance to finish strong and be a better team than what most of us thought we would be as August turned into September.
