Watching the Miami v Pitt game, I find myself pulling hard for Pitt.

I am a hateful human being.

Despite all the success we have had under Saban, the greatest win and the greatest Bama game I ever saw i/m/o was the 93 Sugar Bowl.

Nope. They were so bad in the media and ESPECIALLY in person at Nola....they still deserve it.

It's way up there. But it has the benefit of standing alone in history.

The past 10 years are just stuffed with great wins. The 2011 and 2012 championships come pretty close.

We still remember things like Prothro making his catch against USM. Or Shula whipping Florida. But I'll go back and see highlights over the past 10 years where a given player had a MONSTER game--and barely remember the game, or the player. We've just had an embarrassment of riches.

You need to put the win over Miami in context. It had been 10 rocky years since Bryant retired.....Bama is now the big bad bully and the GOAT Gold Standard.....but not then....

In that game, no one....and I do mean NO ONE gave Bama a chance in hell at beating Miami. The only person that would be considered a national voice that thought we could win was Finebuam. The arrogance Miami displayed leading up to the game and the complete dismissal of Alabama as a washed up has been program who was just lucky to be there was the accepted narrative. Their fans, their players, and the entire national media had nothing but complete disdain for Bama and gave us zero chance at winning. Miami had been wrecking shite for years and was the gold standard for showboating thugs. The complete and utter beatdown that was laid on them was beyond sweet.

Out of all of the games, that one is the most special to me. My Granfather and I used to watch football together on Saturdays, and especially Bama games. That was the last game we got to watch together because he passed away less that 3 months later.

probably my all time favorite alabama win. you had to know what the college football climate was like then to really appreciate it. even though it was negated, "The Strip" was the most awesome, manhood taking cfb play i have ever seen.

"The Strip" prevented a Miami TD, though.

It wasn't Finebaum, It was Corky Simpson out of Arizona who picked Bama all year. He was the Grand Marshall of the parade after the NC win.

In retrospect, Miami built its reputation off of beating a hapless ND program and Big 12 teams like OU, Nebraska, and Texas. Their speed basically killed the wishbone offense. Their great weakness was playing pro style teams that could run downhill and played solid defense. That's why they lost to Tennessee in the Sugar Bowl and Penn St. in the 80s. If you got physical with them and had the talent, you could win.

Frick Miami!

Pitt outplayed and outcoached them. Miami has been escaping losses via turnovers. Pitt was very focused on protecting the ball. Pitt won with a true freshman QB starting his 1st game today.

I was a sophomore/junior at Alabama. I remember well the arrogance of Miami, and our chance of winning. At that point then, they were pretty much what we are NOW. The death star. We got to that game by winning ugly, with great defense and ugly ball control offense. Honestly, I'm not sure many Bama folks thought we'd win.

That's why the outcome was so satisfying. Chalk one up for the shrimp, the gimp, and the blimp. Barker threw 2 interceptions--and not much else. We won on the ground and with defense.

LOL - I remember the first game of the year was against Vandy and we didn't even score a touchdown. Won on field goals and defense.
