I want to preface I just am curious on the thoughts of folks on the possible process of this

Tua progresses this year and off-season and the staff decides he is our best QB.......

- what do they decide to do with Jalen? I can't imagine you just make him a backup QB (can't imagine hed stay for that, either). Do they give him a wildcat/RB/H-Back/WR Randall Cobb type role? I don't know anything about his hands, but obviously he'd be terrifying in the open field, on release type routes and motioning into the backfield.

- how does Jalen see himself? I wonder how Sabans research and contacts telling him that Jalen won't be a NFL QB but could be a Swiss army type player would possibly convince him (they might not say that, I have no idea)

- is there precedence for this outside of an injury? Jalen will have won tons of games and put up solid numbers, 1 year of which would be as a true freshman. It'd be........unprecedented, I'd think, but I could be forgetting some cases.

I think we will have the Leak/Tebow combo that Florida used in 2006, but instead Tua would probably start.

He will be given a freshman Tebow package. He would be maybe in front of Clark at RB if they moved him there. Lot of folks here think they are smarter than others here are going to look dumb as frick in the not so distant future. It just might be a shame to have wasted Calvin Ridley etc as a blocker. He could of have put up ridiculous numbers. I have even been told that our receiving corp isn't elite. Smh...

Just feels like Jalen is too good a football player to only get a few direct snap run plays.

Saban may form a new formation called the Double Wishbone.

At any one time, we will have Najee, Jacobs, Tua, & Jalen in the backfield.

Your just being nice. Tell me summer, if Hurts played on another team like say, Georgia or Tennessee do you think he would even be the starter? Maybe at Tennessee but his passing numbers would be even worse without a wide arse open Ridley to bail him out. Our staff barely trusts him to throw the ball. Period. You are smart enough to know that they didn't sell five star Tua on coming to play backup to a guy that sucks on passes more than a few yards down the field.

Some of these guys fell in love with the idea of Hurts being our very own Watson but the only reason he is starting is because we had no other options. The writing is on the wall.

Look, I love Tua, but the guy looked atrocious the week before against Colorado State, and all of the sudden after one (blowout) game we're convinced that he's the answer? I'm going to need more than that. Now, if he continues to get more and more reps and is consistently ripping the ball like he did Saturday, then give him the job. I'm fine with that.

However, as to the OP's question, Jalen will not be here if he is beaten out by Tua. I can't see Saban running a two-QB system. Similarly, I have a hard time seeing Jalen accepting a position other than QB when he's probably got a record of something like 28-2 or better as a starter.

At this moment, Hurts wouldn't start on UGA. Fromm may not even give Eason his job back.

UT would take Hurts in a heartbeat. Hurts playmaking ability > Dormady.

Jalen is elite with the ball in his hands. We can argue what his passing abilities are, but there is zero argument about his abilities running the football.

If he isn't the starting QB he will be on the field somewhere. He's a terrifying threat.

My favorite are the responses of we don't really need to pass the ball when he is in because we are so good running it. But then Tua goes in and we start hitting multiple guys down field. It is like they don't think Saban wants balance when he is sitting on a squad of NFL level receivers and made the statement on national television that the passing game was detrimental to our team last year. You can't make this shite up yet we are the dumbasses.

Right now it's perfect. You have someone who is extremely steady in Jalen. Tua is taking baby steps as he should.

It's a tough call for sure next year, but coaches make these kind of calls all the time. Montana/young, favre/rogers. I am using replacing a incumbent QB not talent as examples.

Good message board topic. I am just going to enjoy it. Like this Saturday when I would be asleep after Alabama blows them out, but now I will be watching tua and the rest of the young guys.

I actually love this idea, especially with a righty and lefty being in at the same time. Defense would be so confused, especially in a 4-3. Who would the MLB take?

I said it in jest but it'd definitely be confusing as hell.

Nah, just bring back the Single Wing...with Hurts and Tua lined up side by side, you could direct snap it to either one of 'em...

I will say it again, and anyone that wants to can say I told you so if I am wrong. Jalen Hurts will start every game he is here at Alabama unless he is injured or he struggles way worse than he has already.

Bama will be a two QB system this year depending on what the offense needs. A team like LSU that is truggling in the secondary would be ripe for a pounding run game with depth issues and a QB who can sling it like Tua

Saban does not subscribe to the two QB system, remember the saying if you have 2 QB's you have none.

The only way I see it going over well is if he does like Braxton Miller and moves to WR because he knows that is where he fits best in the NFL.

Really shitty that those three QB's frickin transferred. Tua taking a red shirt this year would have set Bama up perfectly for the next several seasons.
