Nick Saban said Jalen Hurts told him, “I am going to be here. I came here to get an education. I graduate in December, and I'm going to be here.”

Great kid. Hope we can find a way to use him enough to keep him happy and hopefully Tua will shine like we hope. Roll Tide problems.

Whoa now! I know Mac Jones is good, but I'm not sure he's that good.

Damn that seemed quick, congrats to him.

Not sure what is his major but he's probably a smart kid. Might make a good coach if he doesn't go into the business or professional work world.

Gonna be interesting for sure

He's a good kid. Props to Jalen

I hope that kid gets another ring and finds a place on the team where he can make it to the league. The guy is nothing but class.

This.
It's also amazingly impressive to show his level of class/maturity while never stopping competing. Usually the people that show that type of class (like for example, me) have accepted that they are not going to be the best.

It makes the best business choice for his future. I know everyone assumes Tua is the man to beat but he did miss spring so in Hurts mind, especially if been working hard, he still has a chance to prove something. Worse case he will definitely get game time this fall. Come December when he graduates if Tua is the starter Hurts will be in position to be one of the top QBs for the grad transfer free agency. Then he will have his pick of programs that he go to as a starter.

For me though as someone mentioned we finally have 2 QBs in place that can play. There are many games on our schedule I feel Hurts can win as a starter. So the starter may be less likely in the game come 2nd half against a lot of opponents we will face.

All you said is true, but the best outcome for Hurts should he not be (and barring a miracle he won’t be) the starter is to redshirt and only play if something happened to Tua.
Let Mac get the reps and save 2 years of eligibility for Jalen.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's his mindset.
1. Try to win the job.
2. When he doesn't, take advantage of the new redshirt rules.
3. Play in 4 games or less, unless Tua gets injured.
4. Graduate this year.
5. Transfer with 2 years of eligibility.

Well that would be the kicker wouldn’t it. He plays his four games Tua gets injured and then he say coach I don’t want to lose my eligibility. I wouldn’t blame him if he didn’t play more than four games assuming Tua won the starting position. That leaves Mac Jones

There are games on our schedule that we could win with Jonah Williams at QB.

To me, that says that it's Tua's job to lose. Jalen's talking like a kid that knows he won't be the starter.
I have no insider knowledge but it seems likely that the practices and scrimmages we aren't privy to have been decidedly in Tua's favor.
I appreciate Jalen, I'm proud to have him as a member of the Tide.

Correct and Nick Saban is going to play that F'ing 4 game deal with #2. He will be all in or out.
