See, that’s not exactly how things work. Let’s get this straight. So, he should automatically, without thought, be thrown into the game to burn his redshirt because he’s our backup now? That’s what you’re suggesting. See how unintelligent you sound? It was 2 meaningless snaps where he handed the ball off. Taulia isn’t a more complete backup because of it. We were up 31 points. Mac could have done that without risking injury. Taulia could have played next week, got meaningful snaps that developed his skill set, and still kept his redshirt unless something crazy happened in the auburn/bowl game that required him to go in. It’s selfish and ignorant for you to suggest otherwise because the year of eligibility that was burnt today could be a tremendous help to him/us four years from now depending on the circumstances that will play out between now and then.

I’m fine if you want to disagree with me, but to suggest my premise is so off base here that I deserve one of your watered down insults suggests that you aren’t the brightest crayon in the box. I don’t think that’s a surprise to anyone though. Contrary to your beliefs, you can have a back up quarterback with a redshirt still in-tact and no serviceable third stringer behind him when there is only three fricking games left in the season you dumbass. Next time, try bringing a more thought out response to a thread before you start hurling insults at someone’s intelligence because based on your recent post history you bring none to the table. Have a nice day and roll tide!

For the most part redshirting people is a lost cause in today's football. Hell we can't even keep the better players 3 years and 5 years is out of the question.

Plan A 3-4 years and the NFL

Plan B 3 years and transfer

Plan C 5 years and the NFL...one guy and it's not 2009 anymore

If the intent was to prep him for the remainder of the season Talia should’ve been allowed to run the real offense and for more than two clock killing snaps.

I would argue that Mac Jones should’ve been pushed to do more in the 2nd half as well because he will damn sure be asked to take more on against a much better defense in two weeks.

But from a functional standpoint Talias usage accomplished nothing for him or the team.

Either way, maybe we actually wait and see what happens next week and beyond before we go crazy?

Exactly, I wonder if these are real fans or just opposing fans just trying to create drama. It's stupid.

This. A LOT of dumb going on in this thread.

MAC ran a series or two with the 2nd O. Surprised we did that if Taulia was going to come in anyway.

So we are making decisions based on a kid that hasn’t even signed his LOI yet and may never set foot on campus?

Nick has to take 2 QB's this cycle just to have enough to conduct practice. Once USC fires Helton and hire another HC then our commit might see things differently...hope that isn't the case. I am a bad fab but I admit that I have zero confidence in #10 as a starter against really good teams. Miss State was ready to quit yet #10 and the offense couldn't muster enough to make their azz quit.

Nobody thinks Mac is going to throw for 300 a game but you also have to take into account the psyche of the team in the second half. At that point, nobody on that field in Crimson wanted to do anything but run out the clock and get the hell out of there. They will be more ready to play football next week and after. If Sark and Co are smart, we saddle up Najee and ride the big fella into the bowl game because he’s upped his game to a new level. Mac just has to manage the game and distribute the ball to Najee and the Four Horsemen. We can go a long way with that game plan.

Meh, doesn’t really matter. Tualia won’t be playing for Alabama next year anyways.

That’s a pretty selfish way to look at things.

Are you people fricking serious? You're bitching because our now backup QB burned his redshirt?
Exactly what I was thinking. He’s now officially the backup qb, and needs game time reps, regardless of how insignificant they may seem to everyone. I feel like the coaches are better at evaluating what constitutes “meaningful snaps” than message board folks.

I didn’t say a decision had been made based on anything. I said Bryce Young will render this a non issue. There’s a difference.
