Had it this past January. It wasn't fun. I felt like crap for a good three weeks.

Tell that to the healthy, slim 35 year old woman with no underlying health problems we transported last week. She’s on a vent and is likely going to die.

Being young and healthy is a big help but by no means a guarantee.

My oldest got COVID in July, so I'm sure the rest of us got it too. We didn't get tested though. We all had the exact same symptoms: sore throats and runny noses, but nothing that couldn't be written off as allergies or a common cold. Doctor was surprised when my kid tested positive, but she had tested negative for everything else so they figured they'd give it a shot.

Being vaccinated is a big help but by no means a guarantee. For under 40 and healthy, it's a toss-up either way.

You could try telling that to Phil Valentine...but first you'd have to dig him up.

He was 61 and probably should have gotten the vaccine, but it seems reasonable that he didn't if he didn't have any underlying conditions.

It's too bad that all people can't be young and healthy. Yeah, this generation says "frick you Grandma and Grandpa."

There are certainly plenty of younger people who have been infected with it, but the "got mine, frick you" attitude is a hallmark of the Boomer generation.

That's not true.

I visited my 93 and 90 year old grandmothers when I was in Mississippi on Wednesday.

They are staying home for the most part, unless they have a doctor's appointment or something. They are both vaccinated and taking precautions when out in public.

The difference is they don't ask us to stop living our lives just to keep them from getting sick. As I said, they are both in their 90s. They've lived long, productive lives.

What's really too bad is we have abandoned all attributes of personal accountability. If you are scared of contracting the virus, then stay home. Don't go to the games. But don't make the rest of the country jump through hoops and enforce mandates on them because of your fear.

I accept personal responsibility for anything that happens to me. That's life. If you want to wear a mask and a face shield when you go to the grocery store, have at it. But don't invade my personal space, therefore ignoring social distancing, because I'm not wearing one.

Some of y'all are really stupid. The current COVID vaccines do not prevent you from catching and spreading the virus. Literally no one is telling you that's what these vaccines do. If your goal is to prevent yourself from spreading COVID to your grandparents, getting the vaccine will not help you to that end.

One day there may be a vaccine that is effective at preventing the spread of this virus, but we do not have that vaccine yet.

ETA: Love the anti-science downvoters.

Yeah, that's what he thought. And then he admitted that that reasoning is obviously flawed.
