FYI - Tua's 217.50 rating vs Duke is the worst they've given up since 2013

Excluding triple option teams
Dukes pass defense the last 2 years
2018 : #33
2017 : #25
Saturday was a really solid effort

Tua's passes are so precise its almost like a hand off.
We are going to miss him when he is gone.

When he has time to throw and is not trying to force big plays he is deadly.

And my understanding, they returned everybody in the secondary and got back an injured starter from 2017
quote:
For starters, the safety corps is loaded. Last year’s top four return, including junior Marquis Waters (maybe Duke’s best all-around defender) and sophomores Leonard Johnson and Lummie Young IV, both of whom thrived near the line of scrimmage (combined: 10 tackles for loss to only four passes defensed).
If Gilbert returns to full health, the cornerbacks could be strong, too. An All-ACC pick with 20 passes defensed in 2017, Gilbert suffered a strange dislocated hip early last fall and missed the spring as well. Without him, young corners Michael Carter II and Josh Blackwell will have to step up.

Cutcliffe said he was more excited about their defense than any unit in his time at Duke.
Now, they did lose their best CB, but that is going to be a solid defense. They didn't miss a lot of tackles and they played fast.

Two more of his passes should have been caught. Waddle dropped one the hit him in his hands and Jeudy wasn't looking when one almost hit him in the back.

I feel like our offensive numbers will be down but against better teams we will do so much better. We really didn’t give our WRs many short throws in big games last year. Waddle especially needs 1-5 quick throws every game with his quick twitch ability

Not to mention the setup of pump and go stuff

I hope Metchie gets more touches as the season goes on. He is legit. Catches everything thrown his way.

He’s great but just don’t know how much play time he gets this year. He will be huge next year though

It's almost to the point that when he does throw an incompletion, I think something's wrong with him physically.

Last year it was part of every route. This year we're gonna set up that shite like nobody's business. And when teams finally decide they can't let us slant/cross/out route them we're gonna pump and go or out and up that poor soul to his death.

This offense could be deadly IF....the OL can get their ish together. The way they played against Duke won't cut it. Not even close.

There's fast and then there's Jeudy/Waddle/Ruggs speed.

The offensive line probably won't be fully set until Brown returns from suspension. He's the best run blocker on the team. Also need Ekiyor back healthy. That unit needs to be set when we go to Texas A&M.
