I am interested in hearing how, say from '61- '66 and '76 - '80, compare to the current dynasty we're in now. Were there certain things that were better or worse back then than in the Saban era?

Very young during the 70's era but will say that it is a tough comparison simply because you couldn't watch Bama on tv then like you can now. We only had 3 channels so you would get to see the Iron bowl and if lucky TSIO. Today seems better but that was also a different era in cfb.

I remember the end of the 70's. It was alot like now in that you expected Bama to win, no matter the opponent and even if trailing. Back to back NC'S like now. I will say though... the absolute dominance and margin of victory now is unlike I personally remember.

I was young during the 70's but the biggest difference is Alabama is always thought to be the team to beat nowadays.
In the 70's Alabama had to win the voters, over teams like ND Oklahoma Nebraska Michigan Ohio State USC....etc.
We had a terrible Bowl run, unlike now.
I feel Alabama is the #1 team now, back then I knew we were good but so were other teams.

I was born in 61' so I can really only speak for 70'-79'.During that decade it was a given that Bama was going to figure in the National Championship discussion before, during, and after the Season. To me it's somewhat comparable with the run Bama is on now because of the great defense. Also a few of those years the offense was pretty dominating running the ball and ball possession.
eta:My parents went to a lot of games in the 60's.Bama was putting on an air attack then.My Mom talks about how high scoring, exciting it was.I bet it was. They were there when Bear became Coach and then won a NC in three years.Had to be pretty exciting. That could be compared to Saban becoming Coach and delivering so quickly.
eta:But this run is domination on a new level.Savor every win.

Loved that run in the 70s but these are the best of times - enjoy it. One thing I will say about those teams in the 70s, they were men's men. Tough as hell. They don't make them like that anymore.
Was in sixth grade when "In our hearts we know..." happened. As someone stated, polls very biased toward a few.
