Dabo has done really well with his mix of top end talent and 3/4 stars, I really wonder what happens when that disease of me comes in with class after class of true 5 stars. Does the Dabo approach still work (Dude is a hothead who isn't nearly the saint he wants portrayed about himself, but he clearly forms relationships with his players and gets the best out of them)?

I fully agree with you. A glut of 5 stars and competing agendas from the players themselves and their families who think an NFL career is a certainty for their kids will prove what Dabo is about more than football games themselves. Look at the trouble Kirby is getting. Kirby recruits better than Dabo. But, Kirby has the makings of a coach that will lose his job in the next four years or so.

The sooner the better!

And regarding eventually replacing CNS: Dabo has expressed so much loyalty and gratitude towards Clemson for giving him a chance that it seems far-fetched at this point to suggest that he would ever leave.
However, he himself has left the door (slightly) open to coaching Alabama. We'll have to wait and see. Perhaps after winning another title or two the NFL will come calling with an offer Dabo cannot refuse.
And if that would not work out, maybe, just maybe, a scenario similar to Saban (LSU-Dolphins-Alabama) could unfold... And if at that junction (Dabo wanting to return to college football after a stint in the NFL) Saban happens to be retiring, I'm all for Swinney becoming Bama's next HC.

Lotsa 'if's', though...

Alabama will always be Dabo's home. Don't think for a second he doesn't want to coach at the school he played at.

When it is time to come home, Dabo will be at Alabama.

I think you make 1 pass at Dabo when times comes, offer him what's he's work and no Bobby Bowden mishandling. If not, move on.

I still think there's a tiny chance Dabo retires before Saban. Odd I know, but I don't think Saban just quits...

We as a fanbase are delusional if we think Dabo comes after Saban. Why leave a place that will give you everything you want and have set up exactly how you like? Especially to follow a legend who you will be compared to constantly. That's quite frankly stupid (Would love for him to be this kind of stupid though). Honestly I think if Dabo ever wears Crimson again it will be after the coach who follows Saban fails and Dabo can be pitched as the returning hero.

Agreed. Dabo isn't coming here and would be a fool to think about it. The next guy after Saban (unfortunately) is hired to be fired. The fringe elements of the fan base won't be satisfied if there's even a slight drop off from this historic run.

Dabo isn't afraid of a challenge.

The coach after Saban is going to be set up very well for the 3 years after Saban leaves.

The next coach will take over a loaded roster, some of the best football facilities in the country, the proud tradition of Bama and get paid a king's ransom to do so.

Alabama will always have high expectations no matter who you your are following as a coach.

I do not pretend to know Swinney, nor to know how he's wired. Of course, he's from Alabama and won a National Championship with the Tide. That does account for something and he has admitted that in a way.

However, I do not think Dabo will move from Clemson straight to Bama. Clemson is just too perfect. Easy conference, no staff changes, no competition really.
That is why I suggested the route via the NFL. Whether he comes in directly after Saban or not doesn't matter. And remember: Clemson is perfectly positioned to win a couple more titles in the short term, which would give Dabo 4. That gives him legendandary status, just like Saban.

And this will be a huge problem. Quite simply very few coaches can ever do this and it will cost any coach short of another Urban or Dabo his job.
This isn't afraid of a challenge shite is just wishful thinking from people who rationally wouldn't do the thing they want him to do. You can be unafraid of a challenge and also be smart enough to see what a dumb idea it would be to follow Saban. You can have a stocked roster, but you gotta completely remake the program how you want it unless you are willing to be as precise and exact as Saban. That isn't some easy transition.

the proud tradition of Bama

This really doesn't mean shite... UM has a proud tradition and they are stuck with king of 3rd place Harbaugh.

I think UM was in reference to Urban Meyer.

re: Football Recruiting & Roster
So many factors that could develop down the road. Maybe Dabo wants to become the best of all time, but will come to realize he won't get Saban-like recognition coaching Clemson's oh-so soft yearly schedule and free-wheeling regular seasons. Or maybe he'll get kinda bored at some point and get an itch to coach an NFL team... Or maybe he'll spend the rest of his career at Clemson.

We just have to enjoy the ride with Saban as long as it lasts, keep an eye on Dabo (doesn't hurt!) and maybe check out how Pruitt develops as a HC at 10RC???
