Every five-star prospect in the 2020 class (247Sports | embedded video)

quote:

The 2020 recruiting cycle is heating up, so we’ve decided to take an early look at the best players in the class, according to the 247Sports Composite.

At this point in the recruiting cycle, 31 players in the 2020 class are rated as five-star prospects by the Composite. Only seven of them have committed to a college football program. The remaining 24 are still undecided on where they will play in college.

The schools that have a commitment from a five-star prospect in this year’s class include Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Stanford, Texas A&M and USC.

The 2020 class is loaded with elite running backs as the group of five-stars includes six running backs and an all-purpose back. The defensive line crop is also strong and features six five-star prospects, including the No. 1 player in the class.

With that in mind, scroll down to take a look at the 247Sports Composite’s five-star prospects in the 2020 class along with the 247Sports Crystal Ball outlook for the uncommitted players on the list.

Note: Includes detailed player evaluations.

There are a few more linebackers on the list that would be major gets on the same level though Flowe appears to be the Complete package ILB but I agree...Bama must land a few major players at that ILB.

I hope the staff gets in the ears of these kids early and often. Builds solid relationships with all of them so that when we miss out on one of them we don't have to make up too much ground with the others.

An 11 second 100 meter in high school would put you in the "good" tier of high school runners. It is slow compared to elite high school and college level runners, but that is moving fast for his level.

Prospects that earned their stripes at Rivals 3 Stripe Camp in New Orleans (segments)
quote:

HARVEY, LA – The 2019 Rivals 3 Stripe Camp Series presented by adidas returned to Louisiana this weekend and drew some of the best athletes in the region. The camp was packed with prospects ranked inside the Rivals100 and the Rivals250. The competition brought out the best of the talent on hand – enough that seven players are now Mercedes-Benz Stadium-bound for the Rivals Five-Star Challenge presented by adidas. Here’s a look at the players who captured the hardware and earned their stripes in New Orleans.

OFFENSIVE LINE MVP

Chris Morris (4-star OT) – No offensive tackle could even come close to Morris on Sunday. The Rivals100 offensive lineman was consistently awesome all afternoon. He was one step ahead of the defensive ends in front of him, showing great anticipation and elite power to handle them. I’m not sure Morris missed a sibgle rep on the day, showing off great footwork and technique to keep the pocket clean, earn MVP honors and punch his ticket to the Rivals Five-Star Challenge. Alabama, Texas A&M, Arkansas and several others are in the mix for Morris.

ADDITIONAL FIVE-STAR CHALLENGE INVITES

McKinnley Jackson (5-star DT) is a highly-ranked defensive tackle that always comes out to compete. He is a big body that flashes quickness off the ball. He is known for size and strength, and both of those things stood out Sunday in New Orleans. Jackson is an interior lineman who will make others around him better on the next level. He is being pursued by Alabama, Clemson, Florida State and many others.

Sedrick Van Pran (4-star OG) is the top-ranked offensive lineman in Louisiana and the No. 3 guard in the nation. He lived up the hype and then some in New Orleans. Van Pran packed a powerful first punch playing center and kept interior defensive linemen at bay all afternoon. He moves laterally with ease and is a fluid athlete anywhere along the offensive line. He’s a candidate to continue to see his stock rise as we move closer toward the Five-Star Challenge. LSU, Alabama and Georgia are among the programs in the mix for Van Pran.

Jaquelin Roy (4-star DT) showed up to New Orleans about 15 or 20 pounds lighter than his playing weight, and it showed. The Rivals250 tackle pressured the quarterback more like a defensive end – with technique and speed to get past slower offensive guards and centers. Roy’s initial burst is a problem for opposing linemen and his lower weight aided his quickness. He still has room to tack on some more muscle and add some more brute force to his arsenal moving forward. Alabama, LSU, Texas A&M and several others are in the mix for Roy.

An 11.04 isn't getting you to state in Texas, California, Georgia, Florida or any other top state unless it's a really down year.

I don't know why people are mad I'm stating the truth lol.

11.04 isn't impressive for a 100 meter.

To be honest he seems to be that level of speed on his film.

I'm pretty sure Bama is recruiting Kendall Milton as a running back for football, not as a 100m sprinter for their track team. I posted that 11.04 100m time because it's all I found on his timed speed. I don't undertand what point you're trying to make. Do you think he's too slow to be considered an elite running back prospect?

Another poster commented on his speed. I co-signed him.

He doesn't look that fast in his film and that 100 time supports that.

Why do you get so mad when people discuss something that isn't in line with what you are told or believe?

BTW, no where did I say he was slow. I said his speed wasn't impressive and he looks to be the speed of someone running an 11 second 100 looking at his film.

I'm not mad at all. Other people's opinions don't rustle me in the least. That's all your own imagination. I haven't even formed a belief or opinion about Milton's speed. I don't know much about it beyond his 100m time and seeing his highlights video. I didn't downvote your post.

You seemed to be commenting more on his speed as it relates to competing in track. So, I finally asked you a question aimed at getting some clarity about your thoughts on his speed relevant to football, but you didn't answer it: Do you think he's too slow to be considered an elite running back prospect? It seemed like you might.

Tbh, I didn't see anything in Milton's highlights film that really wowed me. I'm more impressed with the highlight videos of Zacharary Evans, Roydell Williams, Tank Bigsby & Keyvonne Lee. But I'm no expert, not by any stretch. Plus, highlights are a very limited sample, only their best plays. That's why I pretty much just rely on and trust in Saban's and his staff's evaluations.

I don't pretend to know anything about high school track, but I googled it when I saw your post. An 11.04 would not only get him to state, but would place whatever player you guys are talking about around #12 at the Georgia championships in pretty much every recent year in their highest classification.

Make of that what you will.

It must be a down year in Georgia. This is just the beginning of track season and this is what they are running in that kid's home state California:

Being an elite running back isn't about elite speed as much as it is about elite vision, quick feet and patience when running the ball.

I didn't question his ability as a RB,
even if I rate others higher. I agreed with someone that he didn't have elite speed and said his playing speed on film coincided with his PR 100.

My preference is well known. Zach Evans.

Oh and to be honest I like Roydell's film more than Milton's.

Rivals Camp Series New Orleans: The Spiegelman Awards (segments)
quote:

HARVEY, LA – The Rivals 3 Stripe Camp Series presented by adidas in New Orleans is in the books. After evaluating the talent on hand Sunday, here are the Spiegelman Awards.

THE BRICK

Chris Morris (4-star OT) takes home The Brick award because, simply, he was a brick to opposing defensive linemen all day. He was too strong for defensive ends and moved well laterally for speedy edge-rushers. He didn’t miss a beat. Morris is going to be in the five-star conversation because blind side protectors of his caliber don’t come around often.

LUNCH PAIL

Sedrick Van Pran (4-star OG) is the No. 3 guard in the country and plays center for Warren Easton, but no matter where you plug the Rivals250 lineman in, he continues to shine. Van Pran packed a powerful first punch in linemen one-on-ones and showed off his ability to move backward with ease and protect. The versatility and the fluid movement were among the traits that earned Van Pran a ticket to the Five-Star Challenge.

THE FLASH

Jaquelin Roy (4-star DT) showed up to New Orleans about 15 or 20 pounds lighter than his typical playing weight and played with a different game. Usually, a defensive tackle that’ll overpower people in the trenches, the Rivals250 tackle used technique and speed to get by opposing interior linemen on Sunday, showing off a whole new aspect in his arsenal. He showed up at 286 pounds at the camp and his quickness was noticed.
