Top 10 players in the state of Alabama for 2020 (BamaOnLine | Feb 11)

quote:

The state of Alabama is rich with talent in the 2020 recruiting class, similar to how it was in 2019.

And you can bet the Crimson Tide staff will work to take advantage of that; it already has with six of its commitments calling the Yellowhammer State home.

Bama is not done there, though as several other in-state standouts are being evaluated for potential offers in the coming months.

Here, BamaOnLine breaks down the top 10 players in the state of Alabama, according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings.
>>> Composite State Rankings - Alabama

Note: The article was published on Mon, Feb 11 and then the 247 Composite Rankings updated (due to ESPN's rankings update) on Tue, Feb 12. Impact: Roydell Williams moved up from 12 to 9 and Robbie Ashford moved up from 5 to 4.

10.) KRIS ABRAMS-DRAINE, 4-STAR WR, SPANISH FORT — LSU COMMIT

Abrams-Draine, rated the No. 45 receiver in the country out of South Alabama, has been committed to the Tigers for almost a year, but that hasn’t kept him from showing interest in other programs, Alabama included. After visiting the Capstone for the fourth time in his recruitment this past fall, the 6-foot, 160-pounder says the Tide would have the best shot to flip him of any team recruiting him should the staff offer. Abrams-Draine caught 44 passes for 584 yards and 11 touchdowns this past season. In all, Abrams-Draine posted 941 all-purpose yards and 14 scores.

9.) CAMERON RILEY, 4-STAR OLB, EVERGREEN (ALA.) HILLCREST

Auburn and Mississippi State look to be in the best position for Riley at this juncture. The 6-foot-3.5, 210-pounder has added several big-time offers the last few weeks as he continues to garner interest. The Tide has yet to pull the trigger, but he’s certainly a prospect on the radar with the need at outside linebacker.

8.) DEMOUY KENNEDY, 4-STAR OLB, THEODORE (AL) — AUBURN COMMIT

Kennedy has visited Alabama despite his commitment to the Tigers, and will likely do so in the future. Like Riley, the Tide has yet to offer the in-state linebacker, but that is all subject to change this early in the process.

7.) EDDIE WILLIAMS, 4-STAR WR, PHENIX CITY (AL) CENTRAL

Wide receiver is a priority in the class and Eddie Williams is one of the more talented prospects in the class at the position. Rated the No. 40 receiver in the nation (No. 216 overall) in a deep class, Williams is trending to Clemson on the 247Sports Crystal Ball, but Alabama as the 6-foot-3, 183-pounder’s attention. He’s expected at the Tide’s Junior Day on Saturday.

6.) JACKSON BRATTON, 4-STAR ILB, MUSCLE SHOALS (AL) — ALABAMA COMMIT

Bratton is a big-time early get for the Tide after landing him during an unofficial visit to campus last March. The 6-foot-3, 225-pounder is rock solid with his commitment to the Tide, but will continue taking visits to enjoy the recruiting process. He was recently at Texas A&M and Tennessee. Expect the nation’s No. 4 inside linebacker at Alabama many times this spring and summer as well.

Note: Bratton had planned to visit Clemson this coming weekend, but will be at Bama instead.

5.) ROBBY ASHFORD, 4-STAR QB, HOOVER (AL)

Carson Beck’s decommitment has opened the door on a number of quarterback scenarios that could unfold for Alabama in 2020. Of course, the staff will still go after Beck and is among his top contenders with Florida and Miami alongside. An offer to Ashford would certainly vault UA among his top schools that right now appear to include Auburn, Georgia, Mississippi State and Penn State.

4.) DAZALIN WORSHAM, 4-STAR WR, HEWITT-TRUSSVILLE (AL) — ALABAMA COMMIT

Alabama has turned to Hewitt-Trussville early and often in recent cycles, Worsham being another example of that. The 4-star wideout committed to the Tide last spring and hasn’t looked back. The 6-foot, 169-pounder could end up taking visits elsewhere but is locked in with Alabama as it stands.

3.) MALACHI MOORE, 4-STAR CB, HEWITT-TRUSSVILLE (AL) — ALABAMA COMMIT

The Tide has signed back-to-back elite defensive back classes, and Moore is the foundation of yet another strong year for Alabama in the secondary. The 4-star corner joined the class prior to his junior season and hasn’t wavered once since.

2.) KRISTIAN STORY, 4-STAR ATH, LANETT (AL)

The one-time Tennessee commit backed off his pledge to the Vols prior to his junior season and the Tide has been trending ever since. This looks like it could currently be shaping up as an Alabama-Notre Dame battle with other schools still involved. Charles Kelly is taking over in Story’s recruitment in place of Josh Gattis. The addition is big considering Kelly coached Story’s dad at Jacksonville State and was his primary recruiter at Tennessee, so there’s a longstanding relationship there.

1.) JAYSON JONES, 4-STAR DT, CALERA (AL) — ALABAMA COMMIT

Another important early commitment for the Tide, Jones, the No. 2 defensive tackle in America, has been on board since the summer. The in-state standout plans to take official visits but doesn’t appear to be wavering from his original decision. Alabama signed the nation’s top defensive line class in 2019 and with an early commitment from Jones looks to be on track to have another great year in the trenches.

Can't believe Roydell Williams is not in the Top Ten in Alabama. He might be top five or better before it's all said and done.

Him not being in the top 2 is a joke, let alone top 10. His ranking is ridiculous. He's a BIGTIME RB.

The Mon, Feb 11th article doesn't align with the current Composite State Rankings. ESPN did an update on Tue Feb 12, so the 247 Composite is also updated. Roydell Williams moved up from 12 to 9 and Robbie Ashford moved from 5 to 4. Williams' rankings: 247 - 9, Rivals - 9, ESPN - 8.

National Signing Day by position: Top RB classes (Rivals)
quote:

National Signing Day has come and gone. Recruiting classes are mostly finished and the results are ready to be dissected. Today, Rivals.com's position-by-position look at the 2019 cycle moves forward with the country’s top running back classes.

1. ALABAMA

Trey Sanders

Alabama is one of a few teams to sign two running backs rated four-stars or higher, but the fact that one of the Tide’s gets is the No. 1 back in America puts Nick Saban’s program in the top spot. Five-star Trey Sanders sits atop the rankings for a reason, after all, as the Florida-based prospect is a truly rare blend of size and speed.

And while Alabama may not need him to carry the ball much next year, he’s prepared to shine in the SEC from day one if need be. Saban also managed to land four-star Keilan Robinson, giving Alabama an incredible second back in this class, as the Washington, DC-based star could have been the top-ranked running back in most classes. . .
