Very frustrating.

People aren't noticing that trend you just pointed out.

When Pruitt was here, that used to drive him crazy. He would apparently complain about that a good bit to several of his buddies. By the time the defensive studs learned the enormous playbook well enough to actually play and not have to think about it, they had maybe one good year and off to the NFL. Rinse, repeat.

Ten of Alabama's key targets for 2020 (BamaOnLine)

quote:

Alabama already holds the No. 1 ranking in the 2020 class, per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. BOL broke down the Tide's 10 commitments in an earlier article (posted on page 7). Of course, that’s not even half the names the Tide will end up with this time next year.

Here, BOL breaks down 10 Tide targets in the 2020 class that Alabama looks to be heavily in the mix with early on.

*** This is not every target recruit Alabama is heavily in the mix with. ***

Reggie Grimes, 5-star WDE, Mount Juliet (Tenn.)

The nation’s No. 2 weak-side defensive end has already said Alabama will be there in the end as a finalist. The son of former Alabama defensive lineman Reggie Grimes, the 5-star prospect from Tennessee is already trending to the Crimson Tide on the 247Sports Crystal Ball. Almost two dozen other schools are also in pursuit. Clemson could end up being the top competition on decision day.

McKinnley Jackson, 5-star DT, Lucedale (Miss.) George County

Alabama signed the nation’s best defensive line class in 2019 and could be on pace to do it again, especially if it were able to land the No. 1 defensive tackle in America. Jackson was on campus at the end of January for Junior Day and is a big fan of the Tide hiring new defensive line coach Brian Baker and outside linebackers coach Sal Sunseri from Florida.

Bryan Bresee, 5-star SDE, Damascus (Md.)

The No. 1 player in America already has the Tide in his top six. Nick Saban and Sal Sunseri watched one of the 5-star defensive lineman’s basketball games last month. The Damascus (Md.) product is tentatively planning a spring official visit to Tuscaloosa after visiting the Capstone earlier this fall for the Missouri game and once before in July of 2017 when he earned an offer. Ohio State, Penn State and Georgia look to be the toughest competition at this juncture.

Antoine Sampah, 5-star ILB, Woodbridge (Va.)

The nation’s No. 2 inside linebacker is already high on Alabama. Sampah, from the same high school as former Tide star Da’Shawn Hand, visited earlier this fall and has UA among his top programs already. Clemson holds the lone Crystal Ball prediction at this time. Inside linebacker will certainly be a spot the Tide hopes to bring in more elite talent in 2020.

Julian Fleming, 5-star WR, Catawissa (Pa.) Southern Columbia

Wide receiver will be one of the bigger needs in 2020 and the nation’s No. 1 wideout is one of the bigger targets. Fleming is former teammates with preferred walk-on quarterback Stone Hollenbach who will be on campus this fall. Penn State is the early 247Sports Crystal Ball favorite.

Chris Tyree, 5-star APB, Chester (Va.) Thomas Dale

Alabama already holds a commitment from Roydell Williams at the running back spot. Tyree got an offer from the Tide after new running backs coach Charles Huff joined the staff. The nation’s No. 1 all-purpose back says Huff at Alabama helps the Tide’s chances and he hopes to visit soon.

Kristian Story, 4-star ATH, Lanett (Ala.)

The one-time Tennessee commit considers the Tide a top school. A 4-star athlete, Story could project to a number of spots in Tuscaloosa, but defensive back seems to be the most likely. The Tide has been trending since he decommitted from the Vols last year. Story’s father played for new Bama assistant Charles Kelly at Jacksonville State in the 1990s.

Quandarrius Robinson, 4-star OLB, Birmingham (Ala.) Jackson-Olin

A trip to Alabama’s Junior Day at the January yielded a decommitment from Auburn upon returning home last month. The Tigers will certainly still be a factor, but Alabama looks to be in strong position early for the in-state linebacker.

JJ Evans, 4-star, WR, Montevallo (Ala.)

Another top receiver target in the early going, Evans blew up this fall after nearly breaking the single-season receiving yards record in the state of Alabama. A number of schools came calling — Alabama included. The Tide may be going head to head with Auburn for one of the state’s best. Nick Saban stopped at Evans’ school last week.

Seth McLaughlin, 3-star OT, Buford (Ga.)

Maybe not getting as much notoriety at this juncture, McLaughlin is close to deciding between Alabama, Clemson, Oklahoma, Michigan and South Carolina soon … possibly before spring ball starts. The Tide has hosted versatile Buford standout four times, most recently last weekend.

I have no desire to be a coach.

Funny how angry you guys get when someone who actually knows what the hell they're talking about says something you don't agree with or understand.

Thanks for the info.

So Pruitt shared my concern and it frustrated him as well.

Yet some clown gets mad at me for pointing out, but if he hears Pruitt say it he'd be nodding and clapping like a seal.

First watch your mouth with that clown shite because nobody disrespected you. But go ahead and name the players on defense that we got only one year out of them and they were great. Then name who was ahead of them as well. Just because someone comes on here and says someone said they heard Pruitt say some shite doesnt mean it was true lmao.

Who took it personal? I just dont see it the way they see it. The guy brought up was Q. Williams. Whose spot was he suppose to take? Davis was playing at a first round level before last year and so was Payne. Not to mention Quinnen played a lot the year before. Mathis played a good bit this year as well. So did Ray.

Alabama among top schools for 5-star LB (BamaOnLine | embedded video)

quote:

Five-star linebacker Sav'ell Smalls narrowed his list of offers down from nearly three dozen to just 12 on Sunday afternoon. Alabama made the cut for the Seattle (Wash.) Garfield standout.

“Much love to every coach who saw something in me and offered me an opportunity to play for their school at the next level," Smalls tweeted. "I appreciate all of you, but to get closer to a decision, I’ll be focusing on these 12 schools…”

Listed in no particular order include: Alabama, Florida, Miami, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Washington, Clemson, Florida State, and Washington State. Following the release, Smalls added Texas A&M to the list as well.

The nation’s No. 1 outside linebacker last visited Tuscaloosa in June for the Tide’s Champions Cookout. It was his second visit down to the Capstone from the Pacific Northwest during his recruitment.

“I had a private sit-down with Coach (Nick) Saban,” Smalls said following his summer visit to Tuscaloosa.”He was running through why Bama is Bama and what makes them special. Everyone knows it’s special, but he was giving me the ‘why?’ I really liked that. He told me a few things I didn’t know about Bama. I saw more of Alabama that I didn’t see last time.

“Obviously the titles and stuff, but the commits were real cool. I didn’t know about all the classes they have like brand building and all that. That’s something a lot of schools don’t have. There was just a lot of extra things Alabama does that I didn’t know about.”

Tosh Lupoi had recruited Smalls to Tuscaloosa, and his departure is something that Smalls says affected the Tide, but clearly not enough to keep the program out of his top schools list at this point. Steve Sarkisian has taken over as the primary recruiter and is a coach Smalls likes.

At 6-foot-3, 230 pounds, Smalls is rated the No. 1 outside linebacker and the No. 4 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings. Last season, the top 'backer had 40 tackles, including 21 tackles for a loss and seven sacks in five games. He also caught 33 passes for 673 yards and seven touchdowns.

Smalls plans to use his five official visits this upcoming fall.

Outside linebacker is one of the Tide's top needs in the 2020 cycle.

Ha.

A guy passive agressively tells me to go submit my resume to coach because I gave valid insight... but your beef is I responded to his jab at me?

1). The conversation isn't about "taking a spot". It's about rotation in big games.

2). No one said these kids don't play. They play tons of garbage minutes and we rotate better in non-threatening situations.

3). This entire discussion is about the complexity of our system and how when we play the big games rotation goes out the window and we rely on only a few guys.... whom end up getting gassed quickly

Clemson's DC said the same. Their OL as well pointed it out.

You're not even adressing the actual discussion so why the hell did you even enter it?
