BREAKING: Anderson rolls with the Tide
quote:

Alabama reached into the state of Georgia and landed one of the Peach State's best.

Will Anderson committed to the Crimson Tide on Monday afternoon after a recent visit to Tuscaloosa.

The four-star weak-side defensive end from Hampton (Ga.) Dutchtown chose the Crimson Tide over Auburn, Georgia Tech and LSU, among others.

Earlier this month, Anderson told BamaOnLine that Alabama led for him.

“They’re high on my list,” Anderson told BOL ahead of the weekend visit to Tuscaloosa. “They’re definitely in my top three; I’d say they’re No. 1. Then it’s Georgia Tech (2) and LSU (3). They’re really high on my list right now. Coach Sal (Sunseri) does a great job recruiting me, Coach (Charles) Kelly always stay in touch with me, me and Coach (Nick) Saban have talked. It’s always been great love every time I go down there.”

It’s Charles Kelly that recruits the elite defender’s area. He and outside linebackers coach Sal Sunseri connected with the new Tide commit.

“With Coach Sal, what stands out to me most is how bad he wants to coach me,” Anderson said. “I really appreciate that because from just me searching up on his history and getting to know him, I feel like he really wants what’s best for me and really wants to see me grow. I think that’s kind of what I need in my life, a coach that wants to see me grow on the next level. With him, I just think he has the best intentions for me to help me get to the next level that I want to be on.”

Ultimately, the opportunity at Alabama, to play under Nick Saban and Sunseri, is what has the Tide winning out.

“I know if I go there I’ll be taken care of like family. That’s one thing I’m really big on, a family,” Anderson said. “I think I fit their scheme really well. I think I can help make an impact on the team and Coach Sal can bring what more that’s in me out of me. I really know that I can get my degree. Coach Saban is really big on getting an education before you even go anywhere. I’m most definitely going to get my degree in three or four years. Just the atmosphere of the school is crazy wow. It’s just an environment I want to be around.”

At 6-foot-3, 233 pounds, Anderson is rated the No. 5 weak-side defensive end and the No. 91 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings.

247Sports’ compares the Georgia ‘backer to former Alabama star Tim Williams.

“Lighter, undersized defensive end built more in the mold of a linebacker. Compensates for size with rare pass-rush instincts and traits. Shows basketball open court quickness in space as a pass rusher. Can extend his arms and control offensive linemen. Plays bigger than his size. Has a nasty inside rip move. Eats up grass quickly in space. Shows first-step quickness you want out of an undersized pass rusher. Will need to show the ability to anchor against runs at him. Has some frame limitations. Has some bust potential due to size but also has upside to be an early round draft pick due to pass rush traits.”

Nadab supposedly measured at a 41" vertical leap at camp. 6'2" 190 that runs a legit 4.4. Freak athlete.

Wright is a very good player. Underrated by the services, despite being a bit of a tweener right now. Wish we could keep him, but with the 25 scholarship limit and the historically great LB class we look to be signing, I guess it's just not possible.

247 should list the larger schools 1st. Good luck to the kid anyway.

I heard an interesting podcast recently with Barton Simmons, the Director of Scouting for 247Sports, and they discussed offer lists and an interesting factoid about them: recruiting websites simply take the recruit's word regarding which offers he has. There is zero attempt to vet this list with the schools, as the schools do not want to comment publicly and have zero interest in any PR issues related to indicating "Player X doesn't have an offer from us."

Additionally, many kids completely fabricate offers in order to a) try to get more stars, and b) garner more interest from bigger teams. And so, according to those literally at the top of the recruiting industry, these lists should be taken with a giant amount of salt with many kids.

Also, I think recruiting sites try to list the top 5 schools or so based on the evident interest of said schools, although I'm not sure exactly how that would be done. Furthermore, there is the real conundrum of knowing commitable versus noncommittable offers, which are very real and a basic product of recruiting.

In short, modern college football recruiting is 3 Card Monte and a metric frickton of bullshite. If you trust Saban and Co.'s ability to evaluate and recruit, then it's a waste of time getting worked up over recruiting. Enjoy it, but don't base any real emotion or potential quality time on it. Life is short, and unless any of these high school kids are my progeny, I couldn't give a damn about any of them until they send in their LOI.

Having said all that, thank you to all here who make this thread go. It's a nice resource.

We need to dump McLaughlin and I’m happy. That’ll leave us with what, 8 spots?

A Kentucky fan on the SECRb says we offered Justin Rogers at DT this weekend.

That's what he wants to play and one of the main reasons he chose Kentucky.

Interesting.

McLaughlin is very underrated , will not be a tackle but should be one of the best guards in the south. Great highlights , the big guy George I’m not a fan of becuz his feet movement are horrible . But u can’t teach size and if he’s a project which is what he is , than the coaches know better than me. But the new linebacker pick up is very quick . Great pick up!and if he camped out in front of coaches with many saying he might be a 5 star . Heck all we need is Flowe .!!!!!

I think he was being recruited to play Safety. At least that was the twitter scuttlebutt. So, I wonder if he wants to play LB and that’s why he decommitted. Apparently, the staff still really likes him and will attempt to get him back.

This typo confused the hell out of me for a minute . I was thinking he is already back, recruiting is crazy.

Kendall Milton has picked up 4 CBs to UGA on the heels of his OV there this past weekend. He OVd tOSU on May 31 and LSU on June 7. His Bama OV is this coming weekend. There isn't a 5th OV scheduled on his 247 timeline.

Saw that Malik Langham has left Florida. Many may remember this is the DL from Huntsville that signed with Florida in large part because of the lackluster recruiting effort by Karl Dunbar two years ago.
