Roydell Williams has 147 yards rushing, 57 yards receiving, and three touchdowns in Hueytown’s season opening win over Homewood last night.

This recruitment is great. People feeling confident, putting in crystal balls, saying he’s going to announce, hanging on to every word he’s said. When the kid himself has flat out told everyone he is trolling.

NO Kirby as has been reported when he left did some dirty crap when he left. That’s when Bama fans turned on him. Had he left the right way he would still be appreciated and respected for his time at Alabama. He owed a lot to Nick Saban who mentored him for a lot of years to act the way he did when he left. You can even tell in interviews that it absolutely infuriates him that he can’t seem to break out of Sabans shadow. He acts like a petulant child who isnt getting the attention he wants.

#453 overall
#27 RB
#19 in LA

Most recent offer was August 1 from Penn State per 247. Was the backup to John Emery the season before so hasn't seen much feature back action.

BREAKING: Alabama lands Bayou State RB (BamaOnLine)
quote:

Alabama dipped into Louisiana once again, this time for three-star running back Kyle Edwards. The Destrehan (La.) product announced his commitment to the Crimson Tide on Friday morning, choosing UA over Michigan and Penn State.

“Just being ready,” Edwards told BamaOnLine of making his decision known. “I’ve been thinking about it for months. I’ve had a lot of time to talk to coaches about it and think about it.” When it came down to where Edwards preferred, Alabama’s work ethic set it apart from other contenders.

“What stands out the most is how hard they work and the leadership and the team work," he said. They have the same mentality as me. I’m a leader and love to work hard and push each other. They do the same exact thing. They’re always working. "Well me personally, I like working out a lot. Then I saw that weight room and it was like huge. I just like to throw that out there.”

“Me and Coach Golding, we’ve been texting on and off all the time,” Edwards said. “We just have a connection." The second-year UA assistant along with others connected with Edwards and his family throughout the process. "Coach (Charles) Huff as well, Nick Saban, me and the coaching staff we always get along, we’re always excited when we see each other.”

Edwards has yet to have the spotlight cast on him in a feature back role at the high school level, but that’s only because prior to his senior season, former five-star back John Emery Jr. enjoyed the bulk of the carries.

Saban and company see something special in Edwards ahead of what could be a breakout year for the Bayou State product.

“He said I’m a very talented back, I’m a big-time back, that can really help this offense,” Edwards said of Saban’s recruiting pitch. “He said he’d be really, really excited if he got me over there because he said he’s running low on backs, so he said it would be huge if he got me over there.”

Defensive coordinator Pete Golding has been a major asset to the Tide staff’s recruiting efforts in the state of Louisiana. Just last recruiting cycle, Alabama landed four-star defensive tackle Ishmael Sopsher and four-star inside linebacker Christian Harris, the latter of which looks to potentially be running out with the first-team defense against Duke.

Edwards hopes to get out to some Alabama games this fall, including an official visit. He says he also still plans to officially visit Michigan to see a game.

At 6-foot, 210 pounds, Edwards is rated the No. 24 running back and the No. 346 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Edwards is commitment No. 23 for Alabama in the 2020 recruiting, holding UA steady at the No. 2 spot in the 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting Rankings. The newest Tide pledge is also the second running back on board, joining longtime commit Roydell Williams out of Hueytown (Ala.).

Purely speculation on my part but I assume this would mean the staff isn’t confident in Evans but I could be completely wrong.

Like this guy says, I'm glad they didn't wait around.

I like this a lot. Was hoping they wouldn’t wait around for someone like Evans to change his mind. Take the sure thing (and really, really good RB) especially with Roydell Williams already committed.

I’d imagine they still accept Evans commitment if he wants on board down the road** Just glad they took Edwards and didn’t get put in a bad situation come signing day

I don't think Evans was ever coming to Bama, Texas or A&M bound.

Edwards will shoot up the rankings this year, will be a high 4 star by the final rankings.

I've followed Evans' & McClellan's recruitments pretty closely and tbh I really can't tell what Bama's confidence level is in getting either of them. Since Evans has multiple contenders and contradicts himself a lot, I suppose it might actually be higher for McClellan.

BREAKING POD: Crimson Tide picks up 2020 running back

On Friday, Alabama picked up a commitment from Destrehan (La.) running back Kyle Edwards. For more on what the 6-foot, 210-pounder brings to the table -- and what, if anything, his verbal means in relation to a five-star target at the position -- join Tim Watts and Travis Reier for the latest Built By BamaOnLine Podcast.

He is the highest ranked composite 3 star which I find amusing for some reason.

With the way the Evans recruitment was going I was wishing there was a Josh Jacobs type 3 star Bama could get (or flip Jase McClellan) and that circus could move on to the next town. Hopefully this is that guy.

Honestly I'm just happy this will likely redirect the lost UGA fans to the LSU and ATM boards.

This is probably wishful thinking but I hope this indicates we are making headway with Wheaton and Johnson for 2021 as well.

Yahtzee!

Zachary Evans CBd to UGA by Dawgs247's mod Rusty Mansell:
quote:

CB in for UGA on Evans. Do think it will be visiting other places but he and Milton are good being together from every source I have spoken to recently.
Rusty's post about his CB pick was only that one cryptic semi-sentence and it didn't say whether he expects Evans to commit before or after he takes his OVs.

Dawgs247 fanboy mod Kipp Adams replied:
quote:

...You can take Rusty's CB predictions however you like -- that is what they are for -- entertainment.

Given that Evans habitually contradicts hinself, it's difficult to guage whether anyone really knows much at all about where Evans is most likely to end up.
