The worst part is when you get released. Just dump you out of a plane without a parachute.

Then expect you to somehow pay your bills and stay in peak shape in case they or anyone else wants to call you back.
Ironically, it is the players' union who would likely be most opposed to any sort of farm system. If there were a ready reserve of players outside of the draft or a deeper pool of talent added to the draft, the players are more expendable by default (on the whole). This would lead to smaller contracts and even more instances of quicker/colder "business decisions."

Not sure what the point of this is. If you get released, the organization is telling you that you are not qualified for the position and are no longer in need of your services. Why should they continue to pay you?

And if you are still looking for employment as a professional athlete, it's incumbent upon you to keep yourself in peak condition (qualified), not the organization. They'll find someone who has on the open market. Not sure why this is being painted as some sort of cynical exploitation of labor.

Because he thinks it should be like MLB where the teams pay hundreds of players in places like Rome, GA to keep their contracts alive. He thinks making $1600 per month for 5 months trying to hold on to a job you're only "okay" at is a better alternative than moving on with your life.

The reality is the NFL has zero need to do that. There isn't much movement on those rosters, they can pull from their scout teams if they want, and there is a ready pool of other recently released free agents.

If they ever do see the need for a developmental league, it will be very small, and somewhat resemble the AAF.

Players are already expendable and it's already a business decision.

Anyways, I should have never entered this discussion. Responses are as expected. Always harsh an cold; from people with zero experience or understanding of that world and how it actually works.

Bryan Bresee sets commitment date of April23. Looks like he will land at Clemson. He just visited them again and says he probably won't take any more visits.
Clemson seems to be getting the Number 1 recruit frequently now. Good times for them.

Their Dline haul this year will be insane.

Well that was a ridiculous 3 month ban I served. L8U mods are extremely biased against Bama fans. Meanwhile the boards biggest troll, Williamtaylor, who offers nothing positive gets a 1 week ban. Bama fans need to do a better job of supporting their own on here.

That guy has to be someone’s alter. I don’t recall any posts from that account. And certainly not in mass like now.

Well whenever I see some coonass call a Bama fan sister fricker I refer to them as choir boy molesters. Some L8U fan made a thread on Secrant with sister fricker in thread title. It sat on the board basically all day without removal so I made a thread of equal value in protest. Of course mine was promptly disciplined.

we have more fun, and still win by 4 touchdowns

How much fun were they having the year before when we embarrassed them in the semifinals?

Clemson won the last title, and will enjoy the standard recruiting bump afterwards. They beat us, and they have the right to the yearly spoils the king gets.

But a hungry Bama is a dangerous thing, and Clemson loses a ton off that defense. No team is immune to complacency, and that whole 'fun' deal is ripe for just such a disease. We'll see them again in the annual Alabama Invitational at the end of the season, and this time, we might just be a little pissed off.

You were the one who thought that a former employer should keep paying you after a layoff or termination. That is sort of the opposite of how anything in the world works.

I was probably more dismissive than I should have been since it's personal for you, but the NFL is a business, and it's one that only employs roughly the top .01% of workers in it's field. It is literally one of the most exclusive professions in the world. There's no point in being upset that 99.99% of all football players will never get to that level.

I was listening to the radio on the way home this evening, and Max Howell was on with the local guys. He said that LSU had picked up a couple of commits today or yesterday that pushed them to the top of the recruiting rankings.

Who did they pick up today?

LSU Football: Quick Look at Tiger’s 2020 Recruiting Class by Savannah Leigh 1 month ago
LSU Football is off to a hot start for the 2020 class. The Tigers look to mimic 2019 and bring home another impressive group to Baton Rouge.

LSU Football currently ranks as the No. 1 recruiting class according to the 2020 247Sports Composite rankings.Maybe I am missing something? or maybe it just hasn't been "released" yet...
