That aside, very excited about Story commitment. He seems like a tremendous athlete. #224 on the composite? He is going to make those folks look silly. Probably low because of undetermined position.
Probably bc he’s at a 1A

Lanett is 1A by only 2 students (1 student technically).
To be fair he won the state championship in 2A two years ago with Lanett. Everybody knows 2A is the powerhouse division in Alabama high school football.

Well, if anyone is interested, you can dunk Goodman for charity this Saturday.
“Want to slap me in the face for real? I'll be taking turns with @JohnArchibald in a dunking booth @TrimTabBrewing at 1:30 p.m. on Sat. for a charity involving our Mike Madness 3-on-3 hoops tourney. $5 for three balls or $10 to dunk. Bring it, chumps.”

No. I might go and buy him a beer or something. No way I'm going to dunk a special needs kid.

With Tim Smith's (DT) commitment, is that Saban & Co. conceding Roy or is he more of a NT (taking Guillory's spot)? Would we take both Guillory and Tim Smith in this class, or are we looking for one NT and a DE (i.e. Roy or Burch).
If, and it seems probable, we strike out on Roy, what other DE targets would we pursue? Burch seems like a long shot with Clemson and Scar in the picture - it doesn't seem like we recruit the Carolinas very well sans Christian Miller. I've heard Reggie Grimes name thrown around, but it appears from scouting reports/camps that he isn't nearly the player that those two are. I read somewhere that last season he was pretty underwhelming for being a 5* at the time.
TIA

I think if we strike out at DE (Roy is a 3-4 DE) then Latham would still have a spot in this class. If we get Roy or Burch I think Latham ends up elsewhere (likely Ole Miss).

Are we only planning on taking 1 DE this year? One of Roy, Burch, or Latham?
Speaking of Roy, I know he has had a barrage of crystal balls to LSU over the last couple days (though for the most part I don't think these "insiders" know jack shite about what these kids are currently thinking, with the exception of a few), but have Hank or Tim had anything to comment recently on their prediction of where he lands?

Hank and Tim haven't been talking about Roy lately.

Tide WR pledge commits to All-American Bowl (BamaOnLine | Video: Baker at The Opening)
quote:
Alabama wide receiver pledge Javon Baker had a change of postseason plans on Friday as the four-star wideout flipped his Under Armour All-America Game commitment to the All-American Bowl.
The Powder Springs (Ga.) McEachern product joins Brian Branch, Will Anderson, Malachi Moore, and Quandarrius Robinson as the fifth Crimson Tide commit planning to participate in the event.
Being selected for the game is considered high school football's greatest honor per the All-American Bowl website:
"Selection as an All-American is extremely uncommon, reserved for only the best 100 football players in the country. However, the roster does not begin and end with just 100.The year-round selection process creates a significant communal impact, with nomination announcements in the spring and celebratory selection events in the fall."
The All-American Bowl will take place on Jan. 4, 2020, live on NBC at 12 p.m. CT.

Baker has been committed to the Tide since last November, but has kept the door ajar on his recruitment with schools like Arkansas, Georgia Tech, and LSU still after him. He recently reaffirmed his pledge to the Tide at The Opening Finals in Frisco, Texas.
“How Nick Saban and Coach (Holmon) Wiggins keep it like it’s no recruit talk,” Baker says of why he’s comfortable with Alabama. “Basically it’s straightforward and what I need to work on.”
The All-American wide receiver has drawn some pretty high praise from Saban. “Calvin Ridley and Jerry Jeudy, he said that to me,” Baker said of what Saban has told him he sees in his play. “It feels good (hearing that). I feel like I’m the best route runner, and they’re the best route runners, so …”
Baker plans to return to Tuscaloosa for the Champions Cookout next weekend. And as of right now only has plans to take an official visit to Bama, but admits he could take others.
At 6-foot-1, 190 pounds, Baker is rated the No. 32 wide receiver and the No. 172 overall player in the country, per the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
This is what 247Sports' national analyst Charles Power had to say about Baker after seeing him compete at The Opening:
"Javon Baker is very strong-handed, he runs good routes, I’d say now he’s more of a possession receiver who’s going to get most of his separation through routes, much more so than top-end speed. Top-end speed is definitely a thing he’s going to need to work on and improve. My comparison for him is Riley Ridley, I think their games are pretty similar in terms of their physical attributes. I thought he was good from the games where I watched him play."
Note: Iirc, Baker has gotten some prettyy high praise for his performances at several events; e.g., Rivals/Adidas, The Opening regional & finals, and 7v7 tournaments.

I am reconciled to keeping Baker,he seems like a good one.
But I really like speed in WR,DBs and RBs. Too greedy.

Speed is nice, but a WR is only as good as his hands allow him to be, and Baker's hands are basically oven mitts.
