Demetric Warren did CB Jalen Milroe to Bama, but not Gabe Brooks, who is 247's lead analyst expert for Milroe's recruitment. Brooks' CB for Milroe is Foggy, not Bama. Idk if Warren's CB is significant. He is an Ole Miss mod and OM hasn't offered Milroe, so he may just be following suit with Hank's and Roach's CBs.

Best fit, best arm, best zip: Elite 11 Finals superlatives (247Sports | segments)
quote:

A week removed from the Elite 11 Finals, we’ve had ample time to look back and re-gather our thoughts on how the nation’s top quarterbacks fared. We already deemed uncommitted prospect CJ Stroud the top signal-caller from the event, but now we’ll share the love and break the passers into 13 categories.

Wow Factor: Bryce Young

Young lived up to his billing as the highest-ranked passer in attendance, making some dazzling throws over the course of the week. The Southern Cal pledge had a dominant showing in the pool play portion of the 7-on-7 tournament, tossing 5 touchdowns in 6 drives — the most of any quarterback. But it wasn’t just the level of production, it was how Young did it, impressing with his ability to drive the ball downfield with velocity, timing and location and made the types of throws we saw few others make, like the one below.

Most Accurate: Bryce Young

Young finished the 7-on-7 portion with the highest completion percentage of any quarterback, going 26-31 (83.8%). And as mentioned above, these weren’t a bunch of checkdown throws — he pushed the ball vertically. In going back and watching video from the week, Young’s ball placement was superior as he consistently hit receivers in stride.

ETA: USC 2020 Football Commits -- Rank = 66; one of their commits is not like the others.

Think we can safely remove Drake Maye from the target list. He seems like another Tebow case. Can't imagine he'll go anywhere but UNC.

WATCH: Tide commit Javon Baker's highlights from The Opening (BamaOnLine | video)
quote:

Alabama wide receiver commit Javon Baker has won MVP honors at just about every camp he's attended this offseason, including The Opening Regional in Atlanta back in March.

The Powder Springs (Ga.) McEachern product earned an invite to The Opening Finals in Frisco, Texas earlier this month where he put on another admirable performance.

The four-star wideout caught 18 passes and two touchdowns throughout the 2-day 7on7 portion of the event.

247Sports national analyst Charles Power reviewed the 6-foot-1, 190-pounder's performance:

"Javon Baker is very strong-handed, he runs good routes, I’d say now he’s more of a possession receiver who’s going to get most of his separation through routes, much more so than top-end speed. Top-end speed is definitely a thing he’s going to need to work on and improve. My comparison for him is Riley Ridley, I think their games are pretty similar in terms of their physical attributes. I thought he was good from the games where I watched him play."

Baker is rated the No. 32 wide receiver and the No. 172 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings.

The Tide commit is still fielding interest from other programs like Arkansas, Georgia Tech, LSU, and Ohio State, but reaffirmed his commitment to Alabama at the event. Baker plans to return to Tuscaloosa later this month for the Tide's second recruiting cookout of the summer.

For a more in-depth Alabama recruiting breakdown following The Opening Finals, listen to the Built by BamaOnLine Podcast below.

Branch commits to All-American Bowl (BamaOnLine)
quote:

Alabama defensive back commit Brian Branch has flipped his pledge ... from the Under Armour All-America Game to the All-American Bowl this upcoming January.

The four-star safety from Tyrone (Ga.) Sandy Creek joins Quandarrius Robinson, Will Anderson, and Malachi Moore as the current members of the Crimson Tide's 2020 class that are committed to play in the game.

The All-American Bowl will take place on Jan. 4, 2020, live on NBC at 12 p.m. CT.

Being selected for the game is considered high school football's greatest honor via the All-American Bowl website:

"Selection as an All-American is extremely uncommon, reserved for only the best 100 football players in the country. However, the roster does not begin and end with just 100.The year-round selection process creates a significant communal impact, with nomination announcements in the spring and celebratory selection events in the fall."

Branch committed to Alabama back in April over Oklahoma and Tennessee.

The 6-foot, 182-pounder is rated the No. 5 safety and the No. 110 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings.

247Sports compares the Peach State standout to former Alabama star Eddie Jackson:

"Has a muscled, but lean build. Possesses, long, developed arms with room to add weight in his midsection and lower body. An all-around skilled football player who effects the game in all three phases. Has a dynamic, playmaking presence in the back half, showing the ability to read routes and the quarterback in jumping routes and making plays on the ball. Closes quickly in defending underneath routes. A skilled receiver who has Power Five talent at that position, as well. Has strong ball skills with the ability to track over his shoulder and pluck the ball out of the air. Shows ability in the open field, with speed and change of direction whether it's as a receiver, on special teams or on interception returns. Can continue improving his take-on skills and form as a tackler as he tends to grab and sling at times. Projects as a multi-year starter at the Power Five level with the upside of developing into an all-league performer and high round NFL Draft pick." -- Charles Power

As for his recruitment, Branch maintains a firm pledge to the Crimson Tide. He has remained open to taking visits elsewhere, including an official visit to Georgia Tech last month. "My commitment is solid," he recently told BamaOnLine.

Branch took two visits to Tuscaloosa in the month of June. He plans to return to the Capstone several more times, including an official visit scheduled for the LSU game this November.

The Georgia native is one of four defensive backs currently in the Tide's 2020 class. The others are: Malachi Moore, Jahquez Robinson and Javier Morton. Bama remains after several defensive backs in the cycle, including Kristian Story, Xavion Alford, Joel Williams, Nadab Joseph, Antonio Johnson, and Elias Ricks, among others.

Bryce Young.Jacquelin Roy. Jordan Burch.Elias Ricks.Zachary Evans.Justin Flowe.Darnell Washington. Henderson.

That is a hell of wishlist. Could have added Jermaine Burton.

P.S: only the OL list seems out of place in that group.

Yeah, it's obviously a very optimistic mock class. But, Bama actually is "in it" for everyone listed.

I've seen some chatter that Bama isn't recruiting Jermaine Burton very hard, but I'm not convinced that's actually true.

Story announces July 18th and it appears he's a take -- very versatile: DB, WR, APB, QB, Wildcat.

Our 2019-class OL haul makes it hard to land elite OLs in this cycle, but we also don't need to. OL is a developmental position and those 3 have great upside. We can redshirt them and develop them into excellent players.

ETA: Hill, George and JRob are pretty likely to become 4-stars and Young a 5-star. There's also a pretty decent chance for Boutte, QRob and Roy to become 5-stars.

ETA: I keep tabs on what Hank, Tim and insiders post, but they also can't/don't post everything they've heard. And I can't repeat everything they say because it's VIP content, but their "chatter" does help me to keep our Top Targets "board" (1st post) reasonably accurate.

ETA: I'm only speculating that Seth McLaughlin may be willing to grayshirt if needed. I haven't seen any chatter about it.

Story previews upcoming decision between Alabama, Texas A&M (BamaOnLine-VIP)

4-star ATH Kristian Story 6-1/206 AL hudl

Story is announcing on Thursday, July 18th.

Story's only two finalists are Bama and Texas A&M. ATM has been recruiting him at QB. Bama has told him he can compete at QB if he wants to. Story talks like he might give that a shot and talks like he'll be happy playing another position if it makes sense to.

Last season: Passed for 2,434 yards, 40 TDs, 8 INT; rushed for 1,207 yards, 16 TDs; and racked up 33 tackles, 9 INTs on defense.

“When I commit I’m completely done with it.”

Tidal, what happened between Story and the barn. He lives in their back yard and doesn't even have them listed.

Story's 247 profile shows no offer from Auburn and only one visit there, in March, 2019. Bama offered him in May, 2017. Maybe Story just doesn't like Auburn.

Bama already has 4 DB commits (Branch, Moore, Morton and Robinson) and has still been actively recruiting Kristian Story, Xavion Alford, Joel Williams, Nadab Joseph and Elias Ricks, among others. And Bama likes them all, but obviously doesn't have room to take them all. I don't think Morton will end up signing with Bama.

Right now, it appears Story, Alford, Williams and Joseph may all want to roll with the Tide. Elias Ricks (LSU commit) is arguably the best CB prospect in the country. At The Opening he said he plans to take an unofficial and an official visit to Bama, but no dates have been announced for those yet. Story is committing on July 18th and Williams plans to announce on Sept 9th.

That mock class post is just sort of a best-case projection of how well Bama could possibly finish out it's 2020 class. It could end up quite different than that list.

ETA: One reason I made that post was just to spark some dialog up in here.
