Please tell us a little about yourself and previous Bama Basketball experience.

1. How much Bama Basketball have you seen in the past?

2. Have you ever had heartbreak before while watching sports?

3. Are you here permanently or just until Bama Basketball goes back to normal?

4. What about this team(other than winning) has interested you to watch?

5. Have you ever purchased season tickets for Basketball with the sole purpose of gaining TidePride points?

I can’t blame anyone for not watching past hoops teams. The number of hours wasted watching those teams... smh. I regret it.

Watched during Plaid Palace era only. Minimal Interest before or since. Have watched some NIT appearances.

2. Have you ever had heartbreak before while watching sports?

I’m over 50, so yeah, at least once annually between Bear and Stallings, and Stallings and Saban.

3. Are you here permanently or just until Bama Basketball goes back to normal?

Hard to say.

4. What about this team(other than winning) has interested you to watch?

Oats.

I don't know how it works but I hope the increased revenue brought in by the basketball team will go to upgrade the football facilities. We need to stay ahead of the curve against our rivals and thus need all the money we can get.

You're gonna be upset to learn that some of the football revenue will go towards our mew arena.

I'm sort of a tweener - watch BBall when I can find time but it's typically not a priority like it is with football.

Probably about 20 games or so? I tend to start watching when the team is doing well then they start shitting the bed and I feel like I am bad luck so I stop watching.

2. Have you ever had heartbreak before while watching sports?

What could top kick 6 or losing the NC to clemson on the last play of the game? I also endured the Curry, Dubose, Franchione, and Shula years in football.

3. Are you here permanently or just until Bama Basketball goes back to normal?

I will always be interested in how bama is doing and keep an eye on it. I am watching about the same amount of bball this year as usual, I'm just more excited about it this year.

I don't know bball like, at all, so I basically watch the ball and the scoreboard.

I used to follow them big time... when Wimp was the coach

I must confess, I have quit the team a dozen times since. Every time there is a coaching change, I get my hopes up that THIS HIRE will be the one to make us competitive again... only to have my heart cut out and stomped on.

I have attended many games over my 40 years of on and off fandom. And I have told myself, never again. But I have watched since the SEC opener and I am very impressed. These guys don't give up

I’ve been a “ride til I die” Gump for any and all things related to UA athletics. My “life” depended on guys like Ennis Watley, Bobby Lee Hurt, and Buck Johnson. I tried to mold my junior high game but those 3! Even when I walked on at UA to play football, I was in Coleman every time Coach Sanderson had them playing at home. I’ve suffered with UA basketball in similar fashion in the Post Stallings to Pre Saban football years.

If you ever want to delve into it and better understand what’s happening on the court, I would suggest browsing through some very short video clips here, which should hopefully help you to start recognizing things during a game.

It’s a lot like football (or any sport) - on the surface it’s entertaining, but at a deeper level the intricacies of the back-and-forth chess match between coaches, schemes, and player attributes can be really fascinating.

ETA: There's also a good interview/podcast with Nate Oats here that describes his overall offensive philosophy pretty well.

1. How much Bama Basketball have you seen in the past?

A lot. I was not an original but was an eventual member of “Rejection Row” during Wimp’s tenure. I have been overjoyed at watching or listening to us win multiple SEC tournament championships in the late 80s and early 90s.

I have never forgiven:

1) Auburn for going to four corners offense in overtime in the tourney in Birmingham in, I think, 86, getting the only shot and beating us.

2) I think it was Dwayne Schintsus for rolling up Robert Horey’s leg in the tournament causing Horey to pop him a couple in the mouth and get ejected. We ended up losing.

3) Providence for going off on threes in the sweet 16 and knocking out one of our best teams.

2. Have you ever had heartbreak before while watching sports?

I saw Bo break the streak. So...

3. Are you here permanently or just until Bama Basketball goes back to normal?

I’ve been around a looong time.

4. What about this team(other than winning) has interested you to watch?

Defensive play and blue collar scrappiness. We are gaining basketball IQ also.

I tuned in for the first time when the rant said we were kicking LSU's arse

I've been a Bama football fans since 2008, so I remember the dark years of 2013 and 2014.

I'll watch as long as wins are coming at the pace football fans are accustomed to.

That Tom Petty is a lot of fun to watch play basketball.

All jokes to the side, here's to a fun season.

I don’t get football only Bama fans. I just don’t get it. I want us to be great at everything and I want our opponents to lose at everything.

1. Tons. Going back to the Wimp days. Still have my Wimpalike masks. Stuck with them through everything since then.

2. More times than I can remember. 17-16, Punt Bama Punt is the earliest I can remember.

3. Never left, so permanently. This is just the most positive I have felt about having the right coach in place. Not going to lie though, Gottfried had me fooled for a while.

4. Nate Oats fan. Seems like he fits our program and his style of basketball is entertaining to watch.

Not actually a football only gump or new fan but this is the first time I've felt excited enough to invest the time to follow the basketball posts closely.

I’ve only ever watched Bama basketball when I was young, which was actually during the prime of the gottfried years. I stopped watching basketball when I was about 10 cause it just isn’t interesting to me. It isn’t interesting to me now.

I’ll be proud if Nate brings Alabama to the promised land or at least really high in the tournament but I won’t be there to watch it.

I've been in a cave since the Ronald Steele years, what'd I miss?
