I've become aware that FleshEating's dad has passed away. Please keep him and his family in your prayers for those that do in this difficult time for him and his family.

Sorry to hear. Was it sudden and unexpected? Was his father young?

Thanks for the kindness y’all. Much appreciated. He was in his late 60s. Been fighting cancer for over a year. He had some internal bleeding they couldn’t get under control and that’s what got him. If not that, the cancer would have done it within the next month or so.

He’s been a youth football coach in the Birmingham area for the last 38 years. Started out at South Roebuck (go Eagles!) and really built that whole program up. Spent a few years with Center Point, and then on to Pinson where he’s been for the last 15 years or so. A few years ago, they named the field there after him (Ken McMillian Field). Here’s his obituary.

If I could make one plea to all of you, it would be if you smoke, please stop. Today. Right this minute. I lost my mom a few years ago because of that, and now my dad. Give your kids and grandkids a few extra years with you. It’ll mean everything to them.

Further sorry to read that your Uncles and Aunts on your dad's side have also passed away.
Smoking is a bad habit, for sure. Perhaps,if anything, this will help someone get the message about the risks of tobacco.

Absolutely. God bless the family in their sorrow. I lost my dad almost two years ago. Saying goodbye is one of the toughest things any human has to do. A big Roll Tide to flesh senior.

I am so sorry for your loss. My own father died a few weeks ago. He lived just a couple of miles away from the field named for your father.

I couldn't agree with this more. My father wasn't a smoker, but both of my wife's parents were, and they died young. My adult children have few memories of their maternal grandfather, and only one of them remembers their grandmother at all.

My condolences to you & your family my Bama brother. I see your dad made a difference in a lot of young men's lives & put his life on the line in active duty. This is the definition of a real life American hero.
I lost my dad about this time 5 years ago & miss him as much today as ever. He also served for our country. He loved Bama football, Nick Saban & was so happy he got to see 3 more National titles before his time was up.
