Prohm got his first head coach job at Murray State in 2011. He went 31-2, 21-10, 23-11, 29-6. He won his league every year but only won his tourney in year 1 to make the NCAAs.

At Iowa State he’s gone 23-12, 24-11, 13-18 and so far he’s 19-6. He made the Sweet Sixteen in year 1 and the round of 32 in year 2. He’s making $2 million currently.

Musselman took over Nevada in 2015-16. He’s gone 24-14, 28-7, 29-8 and 23-1 this season. He won the CBI in year 1 and went to the NCAAs the last 2 years reaching the Sweet Sixteen last year. He’s make $1 million currently

Interesting to note he was associate head coach at LSU in 2014-15

I wonder if a big name school will go after Musselman? UCLA might go after him or they might make a run at Gregg Marshall

We’re about to find out Greg Byrne’s commitment toward having a successful basketball program. It ain’t happening under CAJ. There will be and are currently good coaches out there who would come. I think waiting one more year for his buyout to be lowered would be suicidal when the likes of Prohm, Musselman, etc are hired elsewhere and you have a potentially less quality coaching pool to pull from.

Mike Young seems to be figuring it out. He’s been at Wofford since 2002. His record has been up and down but his teams are solid and fundamentally sound. And his last 5 seasons have been pretty good. He’s gone 20-13, 28-7, 15-17, 16-17, 21-13 and 21-4 this year. He’s made the NCAAs 4 of the past 6 years and made round 2 in 3 of those seasons. He makes $161,000 a year.

Keep making reaches for hires, and you'll continue to be in the same spot.

UCLA supposedly won't pursue Eric. Keep in mind UCLA is cheap and they're located in Cali, a state people are fleeing by the day. I'm more worried about Texas to be honest.

Wes Miller took over at UNC Greensboro in 2011. He probably got the job before he was ready for it. He went 11-11, 9-22, 14-18, and 15-19. Then he turned it around and has gone 25-10, 27-8 and is currently 21-3. He made the CBI, then the NIT and last year, the NCAA. He’s making $301,000 and UNCG thinks they have a rising star on their hands as they’ve extended him through 2028-29

If we hire a mid major coach it's a crap shoot. There are 100 guys with insanely awesome mid major records that are awful in major conference ball.

There are others who it works out.

More so than not it doesn't, though.

Mike Hopkins at Washington is another interesting candidate. A longtime assistant under Jim Boeheim at Syracuse, Hopkins was actually named coach in waiting by Cuse in 2015. He left and took over at UW in 2017 and went 21-13. This year he is 19-4!and is clearly the class of a weak PAC 12. The question arises is he that good or is the competition just weak. It’s a valid concern. But he has a good pedigree and a long track record as an assistant. He currently makes $1.9 million a year escalating $100,000 each year

Another interesting candidate: remember John Brannen? Grants assistant that took over after he was fired and was interim for the NIT? He landed at Northern Kentucky as head coach. He went 9-21 his first year then went 24-11 and made the NCAA and last year went 22-10 and went to the NIT. He’s currently 17-4. He makes $300,000 a year.

This would be a big hire. I guess when you look at guys look at guys like this, you have to look at how he recruits and what he does with the players.

Right now we have a B level recruiter and a D level coach.

Rehire Wimp Sanderson. I don't care how old he is or what he's done. Can't be worse that watching this current product.

Wimp at Alabama right now would make everyone forget about 90% of the things Bobby Knight ever said or did.
